Samantha reached over and brought his hand to her mouth. “I know this has been hard on you. I’m on the mend. You need to go home and get cleaned up, maybe lie down in a real bed for a few hours.”

“I can’t leave you here alone, not gonna happen.” He was her Dom, dammit, and he would take care of her.

“What are we, chopped liver? Derrick, I tease you a lot, but we’re worried about you. Let us help. We brought all the makings of a spa so we can get your lady cleaned up and feeling more like herself. While we are taking care of her, you can take care of you. Another win-win.” If Bridget was making sense, then he must be exhausted.

“You don’t need to get overtired. You just woke up.” He was drawing at strings as he spoke. Sure, as a Dom he could have gotten all bossy, but that would only serve to piss her off, which would not help her, and, as her Dom and the man who loved her, it was his job to give her what she needed, even if it made him uncomfortable.

“I’ve been sleeping all day. I’ll be fine, and Lainie is a nurse. I’m in a hospital surrounded by medical professionals. Hell. I’m a doctor. I’m sure I will be fine while you take a break.” Samantha reached up and was rubbing her forehead. She always did that when she was feeling stressed.

“As your friend pointed out, I could use a hot shower.” He hated to relent, but maybe some time with her friends would do her good. “I’ll give you two hours then I will be back.”

She responded with a smile.

Derrick bent over his woman and kissed her on the forehead. “I’ll make you dinner. Hospital food sucks.”

“You know I’ll never turn down some of your carbonara, if you were inclined to make it for me.” She batted her eyelashes. Damn, she was dangerous to his sanity.

“Fine. Chicken carbonara, it is, if it will get you to eat. I’ll see you in a couple of hours.” He gave her a quick kiss and left before he changed his mind.

“Now that the Dom cop is gone, let’s get this party started.” Bridget sat on the bed next to Samantha before leaning in to give her a hug. “I was so worried about you.” She leaned back, a tear falling down her face before she stood and turned away.

Samantha tried to ignore the pain that came with the movement because she didn’t want to do anything to hurt her friend’s feelings, and she was just a little rambunctious.

“Bridget, you need to be careful. You do know she just had major surgery, remember?” Lainie shook her head at her best friend. Samantha was grateful to have these two women in her life. In fact, she couldn’t come up with a reason she had avoided getting close to people all these years. Where would she be right now without the family she had forged at the club?

“Damn, Sammy, I’m so sorry.” Realization showed on Bridget’s face.

“When the hell did I become Sammy?” Samantha asked, but she didn’t really care. She loved Bridget enough to answer to whatever she decided to call her.

“You’ve always been my Sammy, I just didn’t tell you until today.” Bridget turned to the bags the ladies had set down and started to pull out bath items.

“How about we get you cleaned up before that Dom of yours comes back and chases us out of here?”

“We brought you all kinds of goodies to help you feel a little more like yourself. Staying in the hospital can take a lot out of you, so we thought we would help you get bathed, and pretty you up. How does that sound?” Lainie was a kick-ass nurse. Her bedside manner was amazing.

“Sounds good to me. Of course, we need to avoid the surgical incisions.” She started to remove her covers, the soreness making itself known.

“I’ve already checked with Ian. He said as long as we were careful, we could take you into the bathroom to get cleaned up. Before we bring you back, I will make sure to change the bed so it is clean for you.”

“Ladies, you are too good to me.” She was getting emotional. With everything she had been through over the previous week, this simple act of kindness was almost more than she could bear.

“We’re friends, aren’t we?” Bridget shrugged as if that was the only answer necessary.

The ladies moved around her room taking items into the bathroom before pulling out a huge bath towel from the bags they had carried in. They didn’t miss a thing.

Once they had everything set up, Bridget and Lainie helped Samantha into the bathroom. She removed her gown without even thinking about it. It wasn’t like they hadn’t seen her without clothes many times at the club, though this felt more intimate in a way.

“Ian said you could shower with your dressing in place as long as we change it once you are out. When you’re home, we’ll come over each day to help you shower, and I will change the dressings for you as well. Derrick isn’t yet aware of the plan though.” Lainie helped her into the shower and had her sit in the chair they had waiting for her.

“I’m sure he will be happy to have the help,” Samantha said, though she didn’t really believe it. Derrick was greedy with their time together and might be offended at the thought of someone else doing what he thought was his job to do.

“Sure, he’ll be just fine with it.” Leave it to Bridget to be the smart-ass. “We are talking about the Dom we had to chase out of here, aren’t we? We’ll have to get Ian to help us with the plan.”

The women helped her wash from head to toe. It was one of the most luxurious things to have someone wash her hair for her. Once they were finished, Lainie left her and Bridget in the bathroom for a few minutes before returning to assist her back to a freshly made bed.

Once she was back in bed, the first thing she did was to push the button on her PCA. All of the moving around was causing her pain to increase, though she wouldn’t admit that to her friends.
