“Why don’t you want him there?” I question, not sure what Venom’s thinking with this.

“If we go in when he’s not there, he’s gonna have less security at his house. That means less risk of one of the victims gettin’ hurt as we bring them out. So, I think we should go in while he’s not home, take the victims out, and make sure we only leave one of his security team alive to let him know it’s us and that we’re not goin’ away. I’ll make sure Vault gets intel on the warehouse before they go in guns blazin’. Then they can bring the girls here so we can get them the help they need and make sure they get back to where they belong. If anyone doesn’t have a place to go, we can house them here for now. There’s more than enough room for them to stay here with us. Once they’re behind the gate, I want it kept closed at all times. Two Prospects need to be on guard duty as well. We’re not gonna take any chances once they’re here,” Venom informs us all as Goose does something on his computer.

“He’ll be at some kind of luncheon today. It starts at one and he should be there for a while. He’s meetin’ with several committee heads about fixin’ things in town and the surroundin’ area. That’s just the note in his calendar. He’ll be takin’ about half his security team with him. That’s how he always travels according to the pictures I’ve seen of him. He also loves a good photo opportunity. This man does everythin’ in his power to ensure he’s always in the spotlight. This man will do everythin’ in his power to make sure he’s the good guy in town. There’s even speculation he set up multiple accidents or other mishaps around town in order to step in and save the day,” Goose says, his voice going harder and colder with every word he speaks.

“Good. We’ll leave here at twelve thirty and make our way to his house. Since it’s on the outskirts of town, it shouldn’t be that hard to get in and out without alerting his neighbors. I’m guessin’ Horton doesn’t like people too close to his house because of his illegal actions. The farther the other houses are from his, the better it is for us,” Venom says, looking around the table. “I want you all to look over the blueprints and get with Hawkeye and Otter to find out where you’ll be enterin’ the house and who you’ll be workin’ with. I’m gonna go call Vault and see if he can help us out at the warehouse. If we can manage to get this all done today then we’ll be able to save more of the victims that have been kidnapped. Meet back here at noon ready to head out and take this fucker down.”

Slamming the gavel on the table, Venom leaves our meeting room and heads for his office. He’ll be alone to make the call to Vault. I just hope he’s up already. Vault is a mean fucker on a good day. He has been since his dad was murdered when we were younger. Now, he lets his anger and rage out every second of the day. If you wake him up, he’ll let you know how fucking pissed he is.

I remain in my seat, looking at the blueprints and take in every single detail I can. Goose leaves and comes back a few minutes later with another large paper in his hand. He lays it on the table. Looking at it, there are multiple circles on the paper.

“Those are the extra rooms not on the original blueprints. It shows how we get in there and the ways out. He had a maze of hallways and shit built in this fuckin’ underground bunker or whatever the fuck you wanna call it. I already showed this shit to Venom so he knows. You guys go over this shit and make sure you know which way the halls wind and weave out of the fuckin’ place. There is an underground tunnel that leads into the woods surroundin’ this fucker’s house. That’s where you’ll head once you get the girls out. Offer up some protection for yourself as well as them. We’ll have vans set up close to this area and you can all meet back there. Those women are your first priority. There will be teams to handle the security team left behind. Let them do their job while you do yours. Hawkeye and Otter will let you know what team you’re on and what job you’ll be doin’. I already know who’s goin’ after the girls because those are the men who have a personal stake in this situation,” Goose tells us, looking at each of us left in the meeting room.

Goose’s eyes linger on me and Brick for a few minutes because he knows Quinn might not have been taken, but Claw did try to fucking kill her. Then he taunted her and made sure she was scared to death. Steel isn’t here with us right this second, but he’ll know what’s going on as soon as we see him. He won’t be on a team with Brick or myself because we’re family. Family members are never put on the same team together. Just like I won’t be on a team with Venom. The President and Vice President aren’t on the same team either. It’s how we’ve always done things here and how it will continue to be. There are a few more people who will be split up because of their relationship status as well.

“I’m gonna go talk to Dad,” Brick lets me know as he takes a final look at the plans in front of us. “I’ll let him know what’s goin’ on so he’s ready to go when the rest of us are. I’ll meet up with you in a while. I’m sure we’ll be back in here before noon when Venom said we’d meet back up. He’ll want to let us know what Vault said and what’s gonna happen on their end. Worse case, we’ll split up and half of us will go to the warehouse while the rest of us head to the mayor’s house. At least that’s what I’d do.”

“Okay. I’m gonna go sit with your sister for a while. She’s not feelin’ too good these days. Hasn’t been able to sleep well either,” I tell Brick as I stand from the table with him.

“How you feelin’ about becomin’ a dad?” he asks me as we leave the room.

“I’m excited. Not too happy about how this shit is fuckin’ with Quinn, but I guess it’s part of the process or some shit. I’ve talked to the doctor about it and was assured that the mornin’ sickness will get better the further along in the pregnancy she gets. I thought it would be calmin’ down by now, but it seems to be gettin’ worse instead of better. And the shit doesn’t just happen in the mornin’. That’s why she’s havin’ a hard time sleepin’ at night,” I tell Brick an honest answer.

“That fuckin’ sucks. Is there anythin’ we can do to help make it better?” he asks, concern filling his voice.

“We use saltines and ginger ale to help her nausea but it doesn’t always work.”

“Okay. I’ll let mom and dad know she’s in the room and needs some time before they see her. Though I’m sure our mom has already been in with her. Do you want me to bring in some breakfast for the two of you?”

“I’ll let you know. It all depends on how she’s feelin’.”

With a nod of his head, Brick heads to the common room while I head to my room. I want to spend time with my wife before we have to leave and deal with this shit. Like usual, when we return with the victims of Claw and the mayor, things will be fucking crazy and there won’t be a lot of time to spend with Quinn. Especially if Vault and the Phantom Bastards go to the warehouse and bring those victims here.

We’ve met up again and gone over everything. Vault was already awake when Venom called him and sent his guys out the second they got off the phone. There isn’t a lot of time for any of us to do any kind of surveillance to ensure we’re not ambushed, but we have to move on this before Horton moves the victims and we don’t know where they are. If he gets any kind of clue about what we’re gonna do, I have no doubt he’ll move them quick as fuck and we’ll be starting all over. That’s the last thing we want. So, we’re kind of going in blind since there’s simply no time.

Hawkeye and Otter handed out our roles while we were meeting again. I’m gonna be with Goose and Ricochet as we make our way in the house and down to where the victims are being held. There will be three teams going in because we don’t know how many girls are down there. Everyone else will make sure the security team is taken care of and then they’ll search the house to ensure we have every piece of evidence against the mayor we can get. There are things Goose can’t get simply by hacking and doing what he does on his computer.

“Everyone ready to go?” Venom asks as we all wait in the common room with our family to head out.

I’ve got Quinn wrapped in my arms as she melts into my body. She’s nervous and upset about what we’re doing today, but knows it needs to happen. She doesn’t want those girls with the mayor any more than we do. So, we’re gonna make sure we get them all out and help them move forward from what’s been done to them. It’s the least we can do since finding out what the hell has been going on in our new town.

“Ready,” everyone calls out as I look down at my wife.

“Be safe and come home to us,” she says softly with tears filling her eyes.

“I’ve got no plans to leave you anytime soon, baby. I’ll be home before you know it. You rest and try to take a nap if you can. I know you didn’t sleep again last night,” I promise her, my voice just as soft as hers is.

“I love you, Maddox,” she says, tilting her head up to kiss me.

“I love you too, baby.”

Kissing my wife, I pour every ounce of emotion I have into it. Quinn will never know how much I truly love her because words don’t do it justice. So, I’ve been working on showing her with my actions how I feel. It’s not always easy, but I’m a work in progress.

We all head out in a matter of five minutes and load up in the vans the Prospects have filled with gas and gotten ready for us to head out. We’ll be leaving two Prospects here with the women and kids while the rest of us go on this mission. While we’re gone, the ol’ ladies will get the vacant rooms ready for anyone who might need to stay with us while they heal and recover from this ordeal they’ve been through.

It doesn’t take us long to get to the mayor’s house. Cedar Bay is a small town and everything is just minutes away. In cases like this it works to our advantage because we’re close to home and can get back to the clubhouse quick as fuck if it’s needed. Once we’re behind the gates of the compound, everyone will be safe and we can protect them more than being out in the open.

Once we’re parked, we make our way to the house after hiding the vans and getting in our groups. The three teams heading to the secret rooms will be going in through the back of the house since that’s closest to the entrance of the passage we need. Everyone else will surround the house and go in any way they can. It’s sunny as fuck out, but we don’t care because other than the security team, no one will be here. Horton doesn’t even have any staff here on the property when he’s not here. It’s stupid as fuck because it shows how much trust the mayor doesn’t have in people. Though, if I were up to the shit he is, I’d probably be the same way.
