“I like that.” He nods, and his smile brightens a notch. “Come with me, Venus.”

He stretches out his hand to take mine and I give it to him. Tingles race across my skin the moment our hands touch, sending the temperature of that liquid fire pooling inside me sky high.

God… damn.

What am I getting myself into?

Whatever it is, I want it.

Chapter 4

Autumn

Ten minutes laterAriesand I are seated next to each other in a private room in the VIP lounge.

We’re sitting on a long, classy black leather sofa in the center of the room with a table in front that has bottles of thousand-dollar wines and crystal glasses laid out and waiting for us to dive in.

We also have our own bartender, who fixed me another cocktail and cracked open a bottle of wine, which smells like the sweetest grapes in a vineyard.

The bartender left us alone once he’d finished serving us, but we can summon him by pressing the call button on the edge of the table.

Aries pours himself some wine and I take in the opulence of the room, loving the club music playing in the background. It creates the perfect ambiance.

When I look back at my handsome stranger I lean more toward the idea that he must be some kind of celebrity.

If he wasn’t, I’m certain there’s no way we could have gotten this room and the five-star treatment we’ve received on such awhim’s notice. No one even asked for his name; they just did as he requested, as if they were taking orders from a king.

I’m used to the events my parents put together, like fundraisers and other social gatherings that include people from high society, but this is miles different.

It tempts me again to ask him his name but I decide against it. As much as I would love to know, sometimes a little mystery is good for the soul.

In my case it also keeps the façade going that I’m the goddess my Aries imagines me to be.

“Do you like the room?” he asks, smiling back at me.

“It’s awesome. It’s cool you were able to get it for us.”

“I did my best.” He smirks, then takes a sip of his wine.

“You did good.”

“Thank you.”

I smile back, then drink my cocktail, which tastes just as amazing as the first one I had even though it was mixed by a different bartender. I learned that it’s called the Blue Kahuna here.

“Ready to start the game?” Aries asks, gazing at me over the rim of his glass.

“I am.” I sound confident, but I’m a bag of all sorts of crazy nerves. Thankfully, my trusty cocktail has continued to do a fabulous job of evoking an inner calm.

“So, what brings you to Vegas?”

According to the rules of the game, that’s the first question we’re supposed to ask each other, then we can ask three more random questions and see where the answers take us.

Before we came up here we officially signed up for the game and agreed to the rules. The main ones being to give enough information about ourselves and not to lie.

“I needed a break from life,” I confess, abiding by the rules.

“A break?”
