She skips away, and I watch her hurry back up the stairs. Not a minute passes before Hunter walks through the door.
“Ready to fly off into the sunset?” He smiles, dangling the keys before me.
“I am.” I take the keys, noticing he looks like he’s in a better mood than usual.
Lately, he’s been in the foulest of moods because Preston found a potential wife, but Hunter can’t stand the woman.
“You look overly happy,” I note.
“That’s because I’ve come up with one hell of an idea.” He gives me a villainous smile.
“What kind of idea is this?”
“One that sees me getting revenge on an enemy I never knew I had.”
I raise my brows. “Who is this person?”
“Senator Bianchi.”
Surprise slams into my chest. “Senator Bianchi? What the hell are you talking about?”
Senator Bianchi is a man known throughout New York as a saint. He’s big on charities, helping the homeless and the sick, and most of all he’s a high profile client of Le Blanche Global.
“Do you remember that guy last year who went down for securities fraud and embezzlement? He stole from us and two other hedge fund companies and almost got me implicated in the shit.”
I nod slowly. That was the worst thing to happen to Hunter in his career. It could have ruined us if he hadn’t managed to clear his name. “Of course I remember.”
“I just found out that the whole thing was set up by Senator Bianchi. He set that guy up. And me.”
My eyes snap wide. “Are you serious?”
“As fuck.”
“What are you planning to do?”
Hunter gives me that smile again, but this time there’s more darkness in his eyes. “Marry his daughter and make him pay.”
“Are you crazy? You’re going to marry his daughter?”
“It will ruin his plans and compensate for my losses. Marrying her will also take Le Blanche Global to another level.”
“Senator Bianchi isn’t going to agree to that.”
“When he sees the dirt I have on him,he will. So it looks like you won’t be the only one saying I do this summer, cousin.”
Jesus.“I guess not,” I answer feeling more grateful than ever that I found true love with Autumn.
Hunter’s wife-to-be is going to need all the prayers in the world. Her father messed with the wrong guy.
