“It is.” I keep my eyes glued to her, looking at her so intently her sixth sense should kick in. It doesn’t. Probably because I’mall the way over here, a good twenty feet or so away from her. “I’ll see you later.”

“Sure. Let me know what happens.”

“Of course.”

I shove the phone back into my pocket, then I’m on the move, yanking open the little metal gate separating the terrace from the garden. I fly down the pathway and race across the parking lot, hoping to catch up with her before she’s surrounded by too many people.

By the time she walks through the door, I’m nearly behind her.

“Venus,” I call out just as she’s about to step into the hall.

Further confirmation that this girl is mine hits me when she stops in her tracks and whirls around to face me.

I stop short, too, blasted by the impact of another chance meeting with this girl.

How is this even possible?

I don’t fucking care. It’s happening. She’s here. Here with me.

Venus stares back at me, frozen in place with her lips parted and those hazel eyes so wide that if I were closer I might be able to see her soul.

“Aries?” She says that name slowly and purposefully.

I’m going to give her my real name this time. I want to hear her say it and scream it the next time I’m balls deep inside her.

Feeling that desperate need to have her again, I close the space between us and tower over her petite, fairy-like frame. Even though she’s in heels, the top of her head only reaches my chest. I’m used to being a giant around most people, but being around her makes me actually take notice.

Unable to stop myself, I touch her face, feel that silky skin I couldn’t get enough of, and relish in her smile.

How is this possible?

“It’s really you?” she asks.

“It’s me.”

Her smile touches her eyes, brightening the lighter parts the sun is already kissing. I realize this is the first time I’m seeing her in daylight. It’s nice.

“I looked for you when I woke up,” I confess quickly, thankful for this stroke of luck that’s come my way. Fuck knows I needed it.

She pulls in a surprised breath and her skin turns a shade paler before a blush creeps into her cheeks. “You did?”

“Yeah, I did.” And all I want to do now is what I planned to do to her the morning after our wild, mind-blowing night—fuck her again until I own every inch of her and the only thing she’ll have on her mind is me.

Footsteps and someone clearing their throat in an exaggerated way interrupt the moment, and my colorful thoughts.

We both look up to see Shawn Jakobe coming through the door.

With his bald head, burly stature and steely gray eyes I’ve always thought he looks like a DC character from Gotham City.

He glares at me, then his eyes fix on my hand touching Venus’ cheek in a way that makes me drop it to my side.

Our call the other day was amicable, but seeing him now reminds me of the blowup we had the last time I saw him. We went head-to-head when I confronted him about benching me.

Although he plasters a smile on his face, I can tell from the dark look in his eyes that he’s thinking about that, too. You can’t have the arguments we’ve had and not think of them whenever you see each other.

“Ah, Luc Le Blanche.” Jakobe says my name with the fakest interest he can muster. “I see you met my lovely daughter.”

Shards of shock pulse through me all at once.
