I smile. “I’m just happy I was able to help.”

“Me too. Have fun tonight. You deserve it.”

“Thanks. I will.”

He dips his head and leaves.

I gaze out the window, trying to deflect the sudden weight of guilt that tugs on my heart.

Unlike the other day when I felt it, this time feels worse. Last time I was speaking to Mom, but this is Dad.

Luc is the one guy he asked me not to get involved with.

Just when I seem to have my father warming to me in all the ways I’ve wanted my whole life, I’m going against him.

I feel worse because my guilt isn’t going to stop me from seeing Luc.

Chapter 25

Autumn

The moment I see Luc, I feel better.

He’s standing by the balcony on the rooftop of the club, gazing out at the view of the beautiful New York skyline.

I’ve just arrived at Club Zen, a luxury nightclub I heard many things about even when I was in L.A. This is the place most celebs come to party or hang out.

At the door I was escorted up here to meet him. It’s part of the VIP section.

Dressed in full black again, he reminds me of the sexy villain women are too modest to admit they love.

I’m neither afraid nor ashamed to be the first one in line to say that I’m totally one of those women.

Luc turns to face me and the scandalous look he gives me makes my entire body blush with liquid fire.

He smiles and the wind picks up his hair as he walks toward me in a confident, dominant stride.

“There’s my girl.”

“Hello, there.”

I close the distance between us, skipping into his arms, and we fall into a hungry kiss. I’m glad there aren’t people around because it’s the kind of kiss you reserve for the bedroom.

When we pull apart Luc looks me over and walks around me, running his hand over my stomach and my waist.

“Very nice, Venus. Good to see you live up to your name.”

“So do you, Aries.” I love that we still play this game and that we’re still the same people we were in Vegas.

He gives me a wolfish grin, and we kiss again.

“This is us over here.” He points to a room across from us with glass walls.

I take in the gorgeous décor. There’s a table set with wine and food waiting for us. There’s also a sofa area for us to hang out in.

“This is amazing.”

“I’m glad you like it. We have the entire rooftop to ourselves.”
