“And do you Sophie take Silvan to be your husband, to live together in holy matrimony, to love him, to honor him, to comfort and cherish him all the days of your life?”

I smile at Silvan, and he gives my hands a little squeeze. “I do.”

I feel like I mean it more than most brides do.

Like I have to.

I want to, as well, but I’m under no illusions that I ever really had a choice. My desiring this outcome is just a stroke of good fortune and clever planning on Silvan’s part.

Meeting Silvan was a little like surviving a natural disaster, but coming out with a better life because of it. He wasn’t in my plan and there was little warning he would strike and wipe out life as I knew it, but because he did, I have a life I never even knew to dream of.

And now, we’re going to live happily ever after.

Or else.

Author’s Note

The following story is Coastal Elite bonus content that has nothing to do with Sophie and Silvan, it just happened on the same night they met and begins at Silvan’s party. It is a peek into the lives of characters readers of this series have already read about. If this is you, enjoy the story!

Since the following story was written for people who have already read Even if it Hurts, there will be no context given to characters’ histories or dynamics. There is also a bonus scene in Contempt from Hannah’s perspective that complements this one.Sleeping Beautydoesn’t really work as a standalone, so for your optimal enjoyment, I recommend catching up on the series before you proceed. :)

Sleeping Beauty

Aubrey

“What’s so fucking funny?” I mutter to no one, my eyes narrowing as I look across the room at my handsome boyfriend and the fans he has gathered around him.

I guess I’ve been a hapless moth drawn to his flame before, too, but it’s exceptionally annoying tonight because this Vanessa girl from one of Dare’s classes this semester has cemented herself by his side.

She seems to think if she stands in my place long enough, he’ll give it to her. She does all the things she thinks she needs to do to convince him she’d be an upgrade: makes sure her tits are out every time he glances in her direction, laughs like he’s the funniest man she has ever encountered, and moons at him like if he’d only glance back, she’d drop to her knees for him right then and there.

I hate her.

Dare ignores her, but it only makes her more desperate for him to notice her, and I imagine he’s well aware of that. A small part of me wonders if it’s why he’s doing it. Not that heneedsthe ego stroke, but he likes to play his power games, so I’m sure he still enjoys it.

Not that I’m worried he would cheat on me.

Totally, definitely not worried about that.

It’s just hard with him because if he did decide to indulge in a little worship from an eager side piece, what would I even beable to do about it? If I’m aware of how he’s handcuffed me in this relationship, he’sdamn sureaware of it.

I pout a little at my own thoughts and force my gaze away from Dare and his stupid friends.

Friends.

That he’s allowed to have, unlike me.

A bit sourly, I reach into my bag and draw out my cell phone. I feel a little wobbly on my feet, so I decide I better sit down.

The party is packed. There are no open chairs or spots on the couch, so I find an empty spot along the wall to lean on instead.

I swipe open my phone and tap an app, mindlessly checking social media for a distraction since I posted earlier and haven’t checked in since.

There are several notifications, so I tap to see what they are.
