I’m not convinced it’s that easy. And the thought of this blowing up in our faces and having everyone find out we’re not engaged scares the crap out of me.”

Niall pulls into the parking lot for the local studio where the interview is taking place. He finds a spot to park that’s off to the side, giving us some privacy. He shuts down the Tahoe and catches hold of my hand. “Lucy, if you don’t want to do the interview, that’s okay. I would never want you to do something you’re not comfortable with.” His blue eyes reflect his earnest intentions.

“It’s okay. I want to do the interview. This is part of what we agreed on, and I’ve had plenty of experience with cameras filming me.” I tug my hand free of his and pull my lipgloss from my purse. I swipe some on my lips and run my hairbrush through my hair a few times. “Let’s do this.”

Niall holds my hand and doesn’t let go even when we’re inside.

“Can I help you?” the receptionist asks.

“I’m Niall O’Rourke and this is my fiancée, Lucy Chase. We’re here for an interview with Eddie.”

“Sure. Go on through and you’ll find him in the first studio on the right.”

“Thank you.” Niall smiles politely as we pass by her. Once inside the double doors, we immediately find Eddie.

Niall introduces me to him and he shakes my hand.

“Thank you for agreeing to the interview. Let’s go inside and get started.” He leads us into the studio and gestures for us to take the side by side seats across from him. “I’m going to start with speaking to Niall and then I’m going to bring you into the conversation,” he explains.

“Okay,” I say.

The moment we’re on the air, Eddie flashes his too-white smile and introduces Niall. “How satisfied are you with the move to the Coyotes?”

“I’m extremely satisfied. I wish I’d done it a year earlier.”

“Because of the Destiny issue?” he asks.

Niall and I knew this would be addressed. Eddie warned him, but that doesn’t mean we’re pleased about it. But obviously, fans are invested in what happened.

“No, because they won the Cup.” He smiles.

“Speaking of Destiny, have the two of you spoken at all?”

He shakes his head. “We haven’t.”

“If you could say something to her right now, what would it be?”

“That she’s lucky to have that beautiful little girl.”

“She led you to believe you were the father, true or false?”

“True.”

“Garrett was one of your closest friends, true or false?”

“True.”

“Do you miss Destiny?”

“No.”

“Is it true you’re engaged to another woman?”

“Yes.” He glances at me and winks.

“This is Niall’s fiancée, Lucy Chase. It’s nice to meet you, Lucy.”

“And you as well,” I say.
