“Dom!” Anya admonishes, throwing a pastry at her brother.

“What?” The asshole chuckles before catching it and stuffing his mouth. “He’s obviously fine.” He gestures toward me.

Rings cover his fingers, symbolizing the tool he is.

I scan the room and notice Grayson is here, too. He was the one that pushed me out of the way, not that it mattered—I had a vest and was still hit. How did he get to me so fast? I didn’t trust the man before and even less so now.

Before I can respond, a figure comes barreling, and we all have our weapons drawn before he could take his next step. Tao holds his hands up with a card in one.

“My bad, it’s just me. Had to make sure Sky and Dot were safe.” He chuckles.

Everyone rolls their eyes, placing their weapons back down.

Tao approaches my wife and bows. “Ma’am.” He hands her the card.

It’s a blank cream cardstock on one side, but when she flips it over, her body goes rigid as my blood runs cold. She looks up at me in confusion. Cesare approaches her other side slowly.

“One of the guys handed this to me when I arrived. It was found on the rooftop,” Tao explains.

She looks back down at the cardstock with a delicate gold scripture on it.

14K.

Shit.

She tosses it on the table for everyone to see. “Confirmed.”

Cesare speaks for the first time.

“It seems our friends out east are ready to meet you, bambina.”

“Thanks, Jimmy. You can leave now.” He bows his head and turns to leave.

“Why would they order a kill on my husband?” Anya asks.

The men lean in to get a look.

“To make a statement,” Bo answers, looking at my wife. “Caishen Goh is trying to send you a message.”

“Would it have killed him to simply send an email?” my wife sasses, rolling her eyes.

Dominic leans forward on his elbows. “So, what do we know about him?”

“Caishen Goh is the current dragon head of the 14K in China,” Bo explains, “but their power doesn’t end there. His numbers are huge, with a rumored one hundred fifty thousand men across most of Asia and parts of Europe and Australia.”

Dante whistles, shaking his head.

“He’s a big fish in a big pond,” Bo confirms.

“Someone you don’t want to make an enemy of.” Anya’s gaze circles the room. “In China, the Triad is known as the black societies. They have two sanctions The 14K and the Sun Yee On. The two sanctions have been at war for decades, but the 14K has significantly higher numbers. There was a third group, but they were eradicated decades ago.”

It’s how the Chinese government came up with the name Triad to begin with. When the Liu family emigrated to the states, they kept the term.

Enzo glances at his brothers. “What do you think he wants?”

“I think it’s safe to say he wants a certain bride,” Kai answers.

“Which is not going to happen,” I add, typing on my laptop, pulling up everything I had found on him before sharing my screen on the large monitor.
