“Well, there are a couple of commercials?—”

“Hard pass,” I say before she can finish.

“I thought so,” Veronica titters. “But there are some companies who are really impressed with your progressive lifestyle. They think your lifestyle will speak to the nextgeneration. Those could lead to some lucrative spokesperson deals.”

I consider her words, but the thought of doing commercials after being offered a movie part doesn’t inspire me. “Let’s put that idea on the back burner for now. What else do you have?”

Veronica clears her throat, and my instincts fire up. “Hear me out on this one…”

“If it’s what I think it is,” I say, a tightness already forming in my stomach.

“Totally different studio and network?—”

“Oh, hell no,” I interject. “I am never doing another reality show again. Ever. Never ever.”

“It’s not just you!” she adds quickly. “It’s for all four of you! You’ll all be together!”

“That’s even worse! Don’t you see how that’s worse?” I demand. “Do you really think I’ll ever get Bennet or Gabe in front of a camera like that again?”

“It’s a totally different concept. It’s exploring the polygamist lifestyle.”

I bristle at the term. “We’re not polygamists. We aren’t labeling what we have,” I growl.

“Well, whatever you are. Do you see how important it is to get your story out there? People are misinformed! This is your way of setting the record straight.”

“Absolutely not,” I say. “I’m doing the movie.”

Veronica laughs. “That’s what I thought you’d say. Good choice! I’ll send you the details, and we can meet tomorrow to go over the initial contract.”

“Thank you.” I hang up, noting that Chris and my guys are staring at me.

My luck has changed, and I'm in a much better place than I was a year ago. I've moved past the days of taking any job just to make ends meet for my mom. Our financial worries are behindus, and I've been able to secure health insurance for her. She's healthy enough to work again and support herself, but my guys and I still spoil her to ensure she's well taken care of without any stress.

“Did Veronica honestly just suggest you do another reality show?” Forrest growls.

“I guess your agent hasn’t dared to make the same suggestion?” I reclaim my place at the kitchen table to peer at the email again, hoping to glean more details for the upcoming job.

“Reuben’s hinted at it,” Forrest replies, surprising me.

“What?”

“Yeah, apparently everyone is really interested in knowing how we ‘work’ as a foursome.”

Bennet’s face scrunches up in disgust. “It’s none of their fucking business.”

Gabe wanders back to put his hands on my shoulders and squeezes tightly. “Who cares if they understand it or not?”

This subject hits close to home for him. His parents have been a constant source of stress since we announced our relationship, and they are not getting any better.

“We know what’s going on, and that’s all that matters,” Gabe says, and I smile up at him.

Chris joins me at the table. “It’s not anyone else’s relationship to understand.”

“Are we going to eat before this gets stone cold or what?” Bennet asks, unpacking the takeout food.

“Yes!” I close my laptop and hurry to get the plates, my heart still pumping with adrenaline from my exciting news.

Heart’s Desiredid not ruin me or Forrest as we had anticipated. If anything, he grew more popular, and suddenly, everyone wanted to know who I was, this no-name actress who managed to snag three of the most eligible bachelors in LA.
