I pull into the garage and park right next to her hot pink G-Wagon. When she looks up from her phone, she’s glaring at me with those gorgeous ocean blue eyes.

“What are you trying to say, Havoc?”

Her arms cross over her chest in a foolish attempt to distract me.Okay, I might have looked for one second, but that’s it.

“I’m saying, over my dead body will you go into that club and lure that man into a room by yourself.”

She lets out a condescending laugh as she slides her phone in her purse before throwing it over her shoulder and grabbing the door handle.

“Go and dig yourself a grave then. There will never be a day where I allow you to make decisions for me.”

She opens the door and slams it in my face. Arrow looks at me, shaking his head.

“What?” I practically yell. “You’re good with her doing this and risking the possibility of ending up back into that difficult headspace?”

“No,” he replies with utter calm. “I don’t want that for her. But I at least know how to phrase things to make it seem like she has a choice in the matter.”

“I’m too hot headed for that!” I throw my arms in the air before letting them fall over the steering wheel, flopping my face into them.

“Well I hope your hot headedness was worth it because there’s no way she’s going to finish what she started with you now.”

I glance down at Steel, who is still half hard and groan loudly.Dammit! I need to start thinking this shit through.

Chapter 23

As I get to my room, I pull out my phone. While we all have a large bedroom like Evie for the three of us, I needed a space that was just mine too. Taking a seat at my vanity, I dial a close friend.

“Hey there, Firecracker.” His voice is as peppy as I imagine a golden retriever’s would be.

“Hey, Damien. I need a favor.”

“Listen,” he gets serious, which is rare for him. “You know I’d do anything for you. But if I have to go behind my wife’s back, it’s going to have to be a no for me.”

I smile at my reflection. “Good answer. But don’t worry, I wouldn’t ask that of you. This is different.”

“Ahh,” he says in realization. “So this is you going behind your boys’ backs?”

I don’t like that phrasing of it. This is me doing what I’m good at to get us answers.

“No.”

“Oh, so they know you’re calling then?”

I tilt my head back in frustration and pinch the bridge of my nose.

“No, they don’t know I’m calling, but they tried to tell me I couldn’t do something. Havoc used the phrase ‘don’t even think about it’.”

Damien laughs at my imitation of Havoc’s voice.

“In that case, let’s show them just who you are. Come on over.”

That’s the Damien I know and love. Always ready to help me take a stand. He’s one of my biggest supporters in our little found family.

“I’ll be right there.”

???

Havoc and Arrow were not at all pleased that I opted to stay with Evie for two nights. I wasn’t all that pleased to hear all of the forking that happens in the house, but at least I was able to help Damien with final preparations for the club’s opening tonight.
