We are in the middle of his office, a half-filled glass of bourbon sits in front of him at his desk as he glares up at me.

“You do. You are a powerful manipulator. However, I did not raise my beautiful daughter to be a honey trap.”

I scoff at him because yes, he did. He doesn’t want to see or admit it, but that’s exactly what he did. My papa has always loved me, coveted me even. But the fact of the matter is that he is a criminal, so when he saw a use for me, I was thrown into his world.

To be fair, I always said I wanted this life, but I think what I really wanted was to shield my younger sister from it.

“I am going to his house tonight and will get the information we need.”

He stands up so fast from his chair that I nearly flinch. My papa has never hurt me, only tried to use his position to his advantage. He wants everyone in the room to believe he is the most powerful, needs it even. However, I am not to be looked down upon, so I walk into his space before he can invade mine.

“You will not lock me in a cage. My life is mine to do with what I please.”

His eyes soften at my hard tone. I never get angry with my papa.

“You will not have sex with a criminal.”

“Papa, you taught me better. I am the criminal.”

He smiles, reluctantly. “Your mother will kill me.”

I roll my eyes before walking to the seat in front of his desk and throwing my body down. “Let’s not pretend Mother doesn't do this for you as well.”

His mouth almost drops open. I have known about my mother for years. Once upon a time, she was a stripper, and she still looks hot enough to be a honey trap of her own. Papa rarely used her on these missions since she had us, but she still enjoys them.

As for me, I like the attention it brings. Men throw themselves at me more often than not, and while some of it is disgusting, some of it is also flattering. Especially when they’re mafia lords after my papa. The minute they take interest in me, I have the power to push them under my thumb and crush them beneath my stiletto.

They don’t even realize it either. I’m blonde, so I just act the part of a shiny, new trophy. No one questions when the blonde princess runs into the room to sit on the mafia lord's lap. They all think I am too invested in him to be playing their own game right under their nose.

The only problem is, Radon is different. He’s much harsher than most mafia lords I have lured into my trap, and he watches me with careful eyes. However, he stole from my papa and is attempting to sabotage our winery, so I have to play my own game.

All I need is the name of their supplier for my papa to be able to take him down. One little fire there, a gunshot here, maybe even an arrow or two get thrown into the mix and BAM! The DeLucas are back on top.

We talk for a while before I have to head back to Radon’s estate. He tries to send guards to follow me, but they’re just as dumb as the lot of them.

All I have to do is book a spa day, schedule a few services, and show up. I bring a random woman with me and give her the spot while I disappear with Vinny’s car out back. Vinny is sure to make it look like I stayed the whole time, then I show up just in time to leave with my new ‘friend’.

I sneak back into the salon and grab Heather’s hand. I found her at a coffee shop this morning, and the poor girl looked like she needed a massage. Which worked out well for me because I needed to talk to my papa.

“All ready to go, Heather?” I ask, grinning like she is the coolest person I have ever met. She beams at me with a new light in her eyes.

“Yes, thank you for that. I can’t even tell you how much it meant to have a gift like this from a stranger.”

“Nonsense,” I say as I take her hand. “Marsita told me you loved the green tea wrap. I will have to get that next time.”

“I was surprised not to see you in the shower rooms,” she says right before we exit. I pause.

“I decided to add on a new service. I had to get a chipped nail fixed. Chipped nails can really ruin a girl's image.”

She smiles as if she understands me. When in reality, I don’t even understand me. I probably don’t need to be so over the top and happy all the time, but it's a part I have played now for two years. Since I turned sixteen, I’ve put on a fake smile and never turned back.

It was easier that way. People stopped asking about how I felt because they thought I wore all of my emotions on the outside.

Heather and I part ways after I give her a big hug. I’m no saint, but I like to reach out to women when I can to give them a special surprise during their day. It just so happens that it aids in my cover for disappearing.

When I arrive at Radon’s estate, I pretend to retouch my makeup. A battle wages inside my brain, but I shut it off and focus on my mission. Radon has a meeting this evening with his investor and supplier. If I can just get their names, I can leave and never look back.

I walk into the house, the clacking of my pink heels echoing on the marble floors as I make my way to his office. I flip my hair as I walk past the guards and clutch my Fendi purse as if it were a second limb. My freshly manicured nails are on full display. What? I had to get a new design on before I left or it would have looked suspicious.
