“Sure. I’ll eat whatever you put in front of me.”

“For what prize?”

“Right now? I’m eating for my freedom.”

Sue makes me half a sandwich and a cup of ramen for lunch. She also adds a glass of root beer to the mix. I ate everything and drank the root beer, trying my best to ignore the full feeling in my stomach. I feel her eyes on me the whole time I’m eating. She is back to watching me now.

After lunch, I curl up on the couch with headphones and a notebook. I put onHaunting Memories, my new favorite band, and write sad love songs inspired by Wes himself.

I manage to write a few duets I think are semi decent. They are sad and full of longing, but they aren’t half bad.

I pull out my phone after writing one I’m feeling particularly proud of and text Wes.

“Apparently, we still have to do a duet together.”

“I’m aware. My manager mentioned it when he was here. The label is apparently desperate for it. It’s not every day the great Abbey Dark is willing to do a song with someone.”

“Only you.” I reply. “I’m only doing the song because it’s with you. I think our voices will go great together.”

“And we have amazing chemistry.”

“Do we?”

“Yes. Remember the mind-blowing sex? That’s from the amazing chemistry we have.”

I blush at the thought of both times we had sex. It sends a warm feeling to my cunt. I ache for him. I’d love nothing more than to have sex with him again.

“I wrote a song I think might work.” I say after a few minutes.

“Oh yeah? Send me the lyrics.”

I send him a picture of the lyrics from my notebook. He doesn’t reply for a few minutes, and I figure he is looking it over. I wonder if I should’ve told him what song I was listening to when I wrote it so he could get a sense of the beat.

But he replies a few minutes later. “It’s sad. Hauntingly sad.”

“I’m sorry.”

“No. No. It’s great. It’s just I always thought we’d do a sexy song. With our passion and chemistry, I thought we’d make a song that would make you blush to sing. But this is beautiful. Fitting. It just makes me sad.”

“I don’t want to make you sad.”

“Being in love comes with highs and lows. The lows are sad and painful, but the highs are amazing.”

“Yeah.”

“Got any more songs to share?”

“No. They are all sad and depressing.”

“I like sad and depressing.”

“They are about you and us.”

“I figured.” He replies. “I’ve been writing down sad lyrics too.”

“Show me yours and I’ll show you mine.”

“Fair.”
