It’s nice we are already at the next venue. I normally hate back-to-back shows, but we are nearing the end of the tour, and I’m desperate for it to end. I want to put some distance between Wes and me.

I eat my toast slowly. I’m full by the third piece, but I power through it as I feel Sue watching me. She was nice enough to giveme a break from eating last night, so I want to prove to her I can keep my word.

“So, Skylar and you?” She asks.

“Just friends. Or well, just friendly.”

“Friendly enough to do drugs with him.”

“You get me drugs all the time. It’s not like I’m drug free.”

“Ecstasy is different.”

“It’s a party drug. I really don’t think you have room to lecture me about drugs.”

“I wasn’t planning on it. I’m just curious if you thought about the fact, he hasn’t signed an NDA yet. He might tell people he did drugs with you. It might get out that you’re doing ecstasy.”

“Pretty sure most people knew I was tripping last night.” I shrug. She looks shocked by this but quickly recovers her composure.

“Abbey.”

“Hey. I was out hanging around with people, talking with people, not wallowing in self-misery. That’s what you wanted. So, what if they knew I was tripping, most of them were high off one thing or another themselves.” I get up and put my plate and cup in the sink. “And that’s why I have you anyways, right? To do damage control.”

“Yeah. I just think we should see about getting Skylar to sign an NDA.”

“Sure, I’m going to change. Want to come watch?” I taunt, sarcastically.

She doesn’t say anything to that but follows me down the bunk area. I strip down to my underwear, and she has me turn in a circle, checking my legs and arms before walking back to the table.

I quickly change into a pair of black skinny jeans and a T-shirt, sliding the vial of coke into my pocket before walking back out to the common area.

“I’m going to for a walk. If I bump into Skylar, I’ll be sure to mention the NDA.”

“A walk?”

“Yes. A walk.” She studies me for a moment. “What trouble can I get up to on a walk?”

“A lot probably.”

“I will stay inside the gate. I just need some fresh air. I’ll be gone like ten minutes.”

“Fine.”

“Thank you.” My voice drips with sarcasm.

I’m being moody and I know it. I’m tired of people bossing me around. I just want to gain those stupid five pounds so I can have my freedom back. Maybe I’d have Sue weigh me today. I surely must have gained some weight by now.

But maybe not, since I just did ecstasy. I’m sure I sweated off a few pounds.

I wander around the buses for a while. It’s still pretty early for rockstars, so I’m not surprised people aren’t up and about right now.

I walk by Wes’s bus and see Ben smoking a cigarette.

“Hey you.” He smiles at me as I walk up to him.

“Hey.” I greet him, coming to a stop in front of him.

“Want one?”
