“I want to see you wearing this one,” he says.

“You’ve bought one for me?” I ask.

“Yes. I’ve had my people figure out your dimensions,” Damon replies casually. “And I picked out one that I believe will look great on you.”

“I really do have my own, but I’ll have a look at whatever it is you’ve picked out,” I say. “I’m curious now to see what you think will look great on me.”

He takes me into his private office, reaching into the closet to pull out something that immediately makes my mouth drop open.

The dress isbeautiful. A stunning blue, it has a delicate sweetheart neckline. I can see it’s crafted from a satin fabric in a rich shade. It cascades into a lighter blue skirt. It looks so...sophisticated. It’s like Damon pictures me as a refined, high-class woman.

I’ve never had a guy buy me a dress before, and certainly nothing likethisdress.

“This has got to be expensive,” I whisper as I gingerly reach out to touch it. “How much is it?”

Damon shakes his head. “I’m not telling you that information.”

“Oh.”

“But I would like you to wear it tonight,” he says.

I shake my head. “I really do have my own...”

“I’m not asking,” the man growls in that commanding way of his. “You’re wearing it tonight.”

And I blush. I like it when he’s like this.

I see that crazy look in his eyes. His yearning to see me in the dress that he’s bought specifically for me.

“Oh, what the hell,” I say as if I have a choice. “Okay, sure. I’ll wear it. For you, Damon.”

August is waitingfor us already as we arrive at the restaurant in the middle of Crystal River. Damon drives us there to meet him.

“He’s always punctual,” Damon remarks quietly as we pull up and see his brother standing by the front door of the restaurant. “Just like me.”

I wait for my contracted master to open the door for me, and then I’m meeting his brother.

August, unlike his criminal sibling, has steel-blue eyes. His hair is a whiskey brown, and wavy. Neat and parted. Even though some of their features are different, there is a striking resemblance to the two men, in the same way as there’s one between Damon and Spencer. He’s got that Penmayne square jaw and that hint of broad muscular shoulder under his perfectly tailored suit. I bet he’s nicely toned, as all the Penmayne brothers seem to be.

He is, undeniably, a very handsome man.

They all sure have won the genetic lottery in that family, haven’t they?

“You must be Ava,” he says as he greets me.

I smile. “You must be August.DoctorAugust, sorry.”

I remember that the man is a famous pediatrician.

Doctor August smiles charmingly. “Don’t worry about using titles with me. Just call me August.”

“Well, it’s lovely to meet you, justAugust.”

“You’re looking very beautiful tonight,” the doctor says. “A picture ofstunning-ness. Damon does know how to choose a perfect date partner.”

I blush. “Oh, you’re much more polite than your brother, August. I like you already.”

“You’re too good for him, Ava,” he says. “How about we ditch my brother and you and I get to know each other...”
