“You have made me the happiest man alive, and I promise you here and now I will always be beside you, and Savannah, you will never have to walk alone again.” He places another kiss on my lips.

I can’t help but let in a sliver of worry, thinking about what people at the office are going to think, so I voice my thoughts, not wanting to hold anything back from him. “What about the people in the office? What do you think they are going to say?” I also heard a rumor my first day there about his last assistant and what she did. I definitely don’t need people thinking bad of me.

He shakes his head and smiles at me. “You have nothing to worry about, Angel, and if people give you a hard time, tell me and I will deal with it. But I’m assuming you heard something about my last assistant, and that’s why you're asking.” I nod my head and watch him cringe, thinking about what happened and it must be something bad.

“I want you to know you are nothing like my last assistant, so get that thought out of your head. She got it into her head that I was in love with her, which couldn’t be further from the truth. She was my assistant and nothing more and I never made a pass at her or gave her any sign I wanted anything with her. All my focus was on my company and nothing else. When I wouldn’t give her the time of day, she started a rumor telling some people at work that we were in a secret relationship and that I just wanted to keep it professional at work. She would have flowers delivered to her desk and tell people they were from me. Until the rumor got back to mom and she confronted her, I honestly had no damn clue she did that. She left after that and I haven’t had an assistant until you.” He’s looking at me, waiting for my reaction.

I kind of feel sorry for her, but to go to those lengths just to get his attention is wrong. “Wow, yeah, I'm definitely nothing like that. But I have to ask, how do you want to come across at work?”

“You are more than just my assistant Angel and I will be damn proud to shout it from the rooftop, telling everyone that you are mine. I don’t want to hide this, but I will leave it up to you.”

I look into his eyes and know without a doubt I don’t want to either. “I don’t want to hide what we have.”

He gives me a breathtaking smile. “Thank fuck.” He whispers against my lips before placing a feather-light kiss on my lips, placing his forehead against mine, just looking into each other’s eyes. Little giggles pull us from our emotional bubble, making both of us laugh. I get up from Evan's lap and turn to find Savannah standing there with a smile on her face. Her hair is an absolute mess and is going to take forever to get all the tangles out. Since she insists she wants to be like Tangled, it takes forever to brush since it's down her back.

I walk over to her, giving her a hug and kiss on the head. “Hey, baby girl, did you have a good nap?” She nods her head against my stomach, pulling back and looking at Evan, who has a soft smile on his face. I walk to the fridge, getting her a drink, and watch her walk over to Evan as she gives him a hug, making me smile.

“Hi, Princess Savannah, how is your arm feeling?” She beams up at him, hearing him call her princess.

“It doesn't hurt so much anymore.” Before she says anything else, she notices all the gifts on the counter beside her until her eyes get big at how much is there. “Momma, who’s that for?” You can hear her excitement because she already knows they are for her.

“Those are yours, baby girl. Aunty Tessa and Aunty Mia came by this morning to check on you when you were sleeping to drop some stuff off, and the enormous basket is from Evan’s mom.” Her eyes get big at all the stuff I can tell she wants to tear into them. She looks at Evan again when I say the big one is from his mom.

“Your momma bought me a gift?” She whispers at him, still in shock at everything.

“She sure did. Since you got hurt, she wanted to make you feel better. She’s very excited to meet you soon. Why don’t you go sit on the couch, and I can bring everything over so you can open it?” He chuckles as we both watch her take off for the couch, making me shake my head.

We gather all the gifts, and you can see her excitement as we walk in. Evan sits down on one side of her, and I sit on the other so we can help her if she needs it. I pass her the bags from Tessa and Mia and watch her face light up with all the stuff they got her. Toys with accessories, books, and movies.

Evan places the gift his mom got her on her lap, and you can't even see her with how big it is. You can hear her giggling. “It’s even bigger than me. Can you help me, Evan, please?”

He chuckles at her, picking it back off her and placing it beside the both of them so she can get at it. “Sure I can.” I watch the two of them pulling at the ribbon on the cello bag, unwrapping it together, making me smile. Savannah pulls back the tissue paper, gasping at all the stuff that’s inside. Let me tell you, my little girl is a diva and loves all things pampering, thanks to Tessa and Mia.

She places her hand on her mouth, making me snort. “Oh, my goodness.” She whispers in awe. Evan's mom gave her all the at- home spa stuff, and she is in little girl heaven. She even got her a personalized bathrobe with her name on it. Hell, who am I kidding? They personalized everything in that basket with Savannah's name all over it, making her squeal in excitement.

She pulls out the bathrobe, handing it to Evan. “Can you help me put it on, please?” Evan helps Savannah into the robe, and she does a little twirl, making me laugh. “How do I look?” She has the biggest smile on her face.

“Just like a princess, baby girl.” I love seeing her so happy. That's all I want in life is for her to be happy and loved.

She sits back down beside us, looking at Evan. “Evan, can you call your momma so I can say thank you. I just love all my gifts. Maybe your mom can come over one day, and we can do a spa day.”

He’s already pulling out his phone and dialing her number with a soft smile on his face. “I'm sure she would love to come over and have a spa day with you.” He hands Savannah the phone after his mom picks up, telling her someone special wants to speak to her.

I gather most of the gifts, and Evan grabs what I can't, and we head down to Savannah’s bedroom to put everything away. After putting everything away, I turn to Evan, and he wraps his arms around me. “Your mom is awesome. She just made Savannah's year with that gift.”

He kisses my forehead, and I can feel him smiling. “She is pretty awesome. When she walked into my office this morning, I'm not sure how I missed such an enormous gift until she was walking out the door. Come on, let's go see if she’s done on the phone. I'm sure she is getting hungry after her long nap.”

We both walk out hand in hand to see Savannah just hanging up the phone with a big smile on her face and bouncing around on the couch. “Gigi said she will have a spa day with me whenever I want. She also said we are going over for Sunday dinner and she is going to bake me cookies. Can we go, momma?”

I don’t miss the fact that Savannah called Vivian Gigi, nor do I miss the big smiles on both of their faces. I look up at Evan, and he bends down, whispering in my ear so I can only hear. “It’s your call, Angel. Mom will understand if you're not ready.”

When I said I wasn't holding back, I meant it. Evan must be able to read the answer on my face if his massive smile is anything to go by. “Of course we can go, baby girl. We wouldn’t want to miss dinner with Gigi, now do we?”

I watch as Savannah comes over cheering and hugging both our legs in excitement, talking a mile a minute about everything she got today. And that’s how we spend the rest of the day, just like a family, and you couldn't keep the smile off my face.
