“And she’s okay coming to the clubhouse?” I ask.

“She’s been here before, treated the guys several times. She knows how the club works. She’s a friend of the club. You have nothing to worry about.”

He’s hiding something.

I just can’t tell what that is right now.

But honestly, I don’t care. I’m just fucking tired. Letting out a yawn, I blink a few times, closing my eyes to rest them, and Alpha gently nudges me. “No sleeping, woman. If you’re concussed, I need you to stay awake until Livvy gives you the all-clear.”

Groaning, my exhaustion hits me hard. “Fine, how long until she gets here?”

“Should be any minute. Livvy was on her way home from the hospital. She changed course and started driving here. She literally should be here any—”

“Pres, Livvy’s here,” Maverick calls out from the front door.

I let out a small laugh. “Great timing,” I murmur as Alpha waggles his brows.

“Now, just beware. Livvy’s not the usual type you’d imagine. Go easy on her, okay?” Alpha warns, and I narrow my eyes on him in curiosity.

“What the hell does that mean?” I ask, but before he can answer, an incredibly short, petite blonde woman walks inside carrying a medical kit. She’s stunningly gorgeous but in that cute kind of way.I see what he means. She looks like something in one of those Hallmark romance movies.

This woman is freaking adorable.

She walks over in her pink nurse scrubs and takes one look at me, then her eyes move to Alpha and they widen, saying something unspoken to him. “Hey, I’m Livvy. Nice to meet you,” she says, placing her hand out for me to shake.

Smiling, I go to place my hand out to her, but it’s covered in blood. “Sorry about that. I’m Haven. Nice to meet you too. I hearyou’re a good friend of the club?”

She glances at Alpha, again something unspoken being said between them, and she hesitates, but then a giant smile crosses her face. “That’s right. I’ve been part of the club for a really long time, and anything that happens here, I can promise you, it won’t be repeated elsewhere. You have my word on that, Haven. So what happened to your nose? Alpha said it was a blunt force trauma?”

Sighing with relief, I figure if everyone here trusts her, I can too. “Alpha took me out to the gun range. We were target shooting, and I lost focus. The recoil shocked me, and the gun slammed back into my face.”

Livvy narrows her eyes. “How did you lose focus, Haven? Did you lose vision or a fainting spell?”

I inhale with a shrug. She’s a medical professional. She can handle the truth. Right? “Alpha and I were kind of…you know… fucking at the time.”

Livvy widens her eyes as Alpha scrubs at his face like he didn’t think I would actually tell her. “Oh, right… well…” Livvy nods. “The guns they use here certainly have good kickback.”

I raise my brow. “You’ve shot a gun here?”

Livvy glances at Alpha, then back to me with a weak smile. “Christmas parties, get-togethers, that sort of thing.”

There’s more to her.

I just can’t tell what it is.

But I will find out in my own time, not while she’s treating me.

“So, my nose… is it broken?”

Livvy reaches forward, gently pulling the cloth and ice pack away from my face. She glances at the wound and presses on the bridge. I wince, but the pain isn’t that bad. It’s tolerable while she wiggles the area affected and presses either side of my nostrils. “Okay, I’m satisfied your nose has some deep bruising. It may have a hairline fracture, maybe, but even then, I’m notconvinced because your pain tolerance at me touching it is quite high. You’re also not having any trouble breathing. There’s no malalignment. I’m happy to say the nose isn’t broken, but it will be sore for a couple of weeks. Ice is the right idea to keep the swelling and bruising down. Though nothing is going to save you from the black eyes, I hate to tell you.”

Shrugging, I exhale. “Nothing I haven’t had before.”

Alpha smirks like he doesn’t expect anything less, whereas Livvy scowls in concern. “How’s your head feeling? Any dizziness, nausea?”

I shake my head.

Alpha snorts. “Don’t be a martyr, Haven. Tell her the truth.”
