“How’s Roxy settling in?”

I couldn’t help glancing up at that question to see Eric’s startled expression. “She’s… fine.”

“It’s just…” Dusk said, working me deeper still. I was shivering with a rising sensation I hadn’t felt before, eyes downcast again. “Shatter’s having a bit of trouble. Wondering if it was just us.”

What?

“Trouble?” Eric asked.

“You are, aren’t you, Gem?” he asked. He released my leg, lifting his hand to my chin, tilting it up to face them as he continued to curl two fingers into me. I tried to close my legs, but his hand wasn’t going anywhere. “I built her a nest,” he said. “Chose everything for her, set it all up. But she doesn’t want it.”

Shock collided with heat. My lips parted, but my mind was blank.

What would they think? That I was the kind of spoiled omega who would reject something like that.

“You built a nest?” Gareth asked. He looked surprised. “That’s early.”

“I… do want a… nest,” I managed to whisper, trying to meet Gareth’s eyes.

“You slept in the bathtub last night.”

Every eyebrow shot up.

“I wasn’tinthe bathtub… I was… nervous,” I said, scrabbling for any excuse, my mind still half blank from Dusk’s fingers that were still working me. “I want a nest.I do.”

Just not his.

I wanted theirs.

Couldn’t they see that?

“Oh…” Dusk sounded genuinely surprised. “Well, you should have said that, Gem. It’s sorted then.”

It wasn’t fuckingsorted.

I wouldn’t take anything from him.

But I couldn’t handle it, tilting my head back down and letting my hair cover my face completely as he continued sliding his fingers into me as he picked the conversation up.

Finally they made to leave. I never thought I’dwantto see them go, but I was trembling, clutching the table as I fought off a rising wave of heat that was sending me into a spiral.

“What about Ransom?” Gareth was saying. “Will he show his face?”

“Ransom does what he likes,” Dusk replied.

Then they stepped away at last and I buried my face in my arms, releasing desperate breaths. Then Dusk’s free hand clamped around my neck and he dragged my back against his chest, fingers still curling into that sensitive spot.

I let out a gasp, unable to help looking around the huge room. The auditorium was almost empty, a few loiterers at the doors, and my mates had their backs to me as they left.

“D-Dusk…” My voice was a rasp.

“What?” he asked, nipping my ear, his voice a low growl.

Shit.“Y-you have to stop.”

“And why is that?”

“I don’t…” Fuck.Fuck. His fingers drove into me quicker and I was seeing stars. “I don’t know what’s happening.” I hated how pathetic I sounded.
