“We can get food,” Dusk said.

“She saidslumber party food. What does that mean?”

It sounded like code.

I didn’t know codes.

“I think it’s just snacks?—”

“You’reboys.Alphaboys. What if there’s a secret language, and I’m supposed to know it?”

Ransom snorted, and Dusk was grinning, but Umbra—theonlyrational one—was pulling out his phone. “I’ll look it up,” he said.

Thank fuck someone was taking me seriously.

Oh…

Oh dear.

“She’s gonna know I’ve never had a slumber party before.”

“No. She isn’t,” Dusk said. “Umbra will sort out the food, and I’ll bring in the TV from my room so you can watch chick flicks.”

“That’s a thing?”

“It’s a thing.”

“What if it’s only a thing in alpha slumber parties?”

“I…” Dusk looked so stunned that Ransom beat him to answer.

“She has a point.” Ransom folded his arms. “Do wetrulyknow there isn’t a significant divergence of features between alpha and omega slumber—OW!” He cut off as Umbra, who was still scrolling through his phone furiously, leaned over and flicked him in the ear hard enough that he yelped.

Dusk snorted but was already heading back to his room.

I rushed after him, heart in my throat.

I was almost tearing my hair out by the time he was unplugging his TV. “W-wait.”

He set it down on his bed, turning to me.

“What if itisa divergent feature? Then she’ll think I’m like… an alpha or something.” Would that be worse than her thinking I’d never been to a slumber party before?

Myfriendwas inside my nest right now, ready to have a slumber party.

“It sounds more serious than a girls’ night,” I went on. “It’s like… like a whole party. Do youusuallywatch movies at a party?” Snacks sure—Pyjamas… that was a little confusing, but movies? I mean… were we supposed to watch while the music was playing? I’d never even heard of a party without music. Or was it like an interval thing? And if so, what kind of interval? Would she figure it out when I got the wrong ratio of movie to music time?

“You’re going to be fine,” he told me.

“Dusk.”I seized him. “Ineedyou to be sure. This is not a mop.” That was the wrong word.

“A mop?”

Drill.“This is not a drill.”

“I am absolutely completely certain that chick flicks are not an alpha-slumber-party exclusive feature, alright?” he asked.

“You didn’t even look it up.”
