I’d faced my mates.

The whole world knew who I was—whatI was, and that was okay. I had a pack who loved me at last, and neither my scent nor the colour of my eyes was something I ever had to hide again.

We said goodnight to Roxy, and Ransom wound his hands around my waist, drawing me close as Dusk tugged his keys from his pocket.

Ransom’s voice was a breath in my ear. “We’re going to ravish you in your nest, Little Reaper.”

I shivered, desire sending shooting stars through my veins as I leaned back, biting my lip as I took him in. Dusk unlocked the door and then tapped his phone on. The light drew my attention.

I frowned at how his expression went tense.

“It’s Decebal—Shit.” he said. “Ten missed calls. You guys go ahead.”

“Alright.” Ransom turned back to me. The kiss he pressed to my lips was so passionate that my worries faded, and once again, everything was perfect.

Ransom dragged me closer, letting me tangle my legs around him with ease as he picked me up. His hands were firm on my waist and back, and I could feel his need for me through the bond.

I nipped his neck, impatience rising in my chest as he opened the door himself, and Dusk’s muted voice sounded behind us.

Ransom chuckled, and as we stepped in, he pressed me against the living room wall, dragging rough kisses down my neck to my chest.

I moaned as his teeth found my nipple through my silk dress.

I think I was okay with Ransom claiming me right here, heels and all.

He could claim me anywhere he wanted to.

I was his.

There was a possessive growl in his throat. “I’m so proud of you, Little Reaper.”

My fingers tangled in his hair as I drew him back, finding his eyes in the dim living room. “I faced them,” I whispered.

And somehow, I’d?—

Thoughts died as my eyes slid to the room behind him.

My blood ran cold.

Ransom, feeling me stiffen, turned, pupils constricting. A feral, guttural growl rose in his chest. It was the most frightening thing I’d ever heard, every one of my hairs standing on end.

The room was destroyed, furniture torn, and contents of the kitchen shattered everywhere. And the scent in here was wrong.

Traces of my mates, fading fast.

They had been here.

In my home.

DUSK

I heard Shatter’s whine of terror from the hall.

My heart was in my throat as Decebal’s voice in my ear faded in and out.

The words he’d spoken turned the world upside down.

“They can’t discover she’s their scent match, Dusk. Once they know, they’ll never give up.”
