He sighs. “Odi, your safety is my only priority.Ouronly priority. A lot can happen between now and Saturday, and we decided none of us were willing to take that risk.”

“So what does that mean?”

“It means plan B. Come, let’s not be late to meet the vicar.”

“No.”

“No?”

“I’m not setting foot in there until you explain. Why are you so worried about safety? Why do you think you need a plan B? Are you expecting something to happen?”

“Princess, I’malwaysexpecting something to happen. I always have plans A through to Z in place, and with you involved, a few backups on top of that. I am not leaving anything to chance, not when it comes to making sure you’re safe, protected and empowered, no matter what happens.”

He takes my hand and I let him, the gravity of his words and the almost worried expression on his face preventing me from fighting him on this. He leads me over the frozen grass towards the chapel which is lit from within, Kaiden and Zie following in our wake.

I shiver in the cold night air and hope that whatever is about to happen, whatever plan B is, that it’s warm inside. I have noidea what Axel’s talking about, or what his fears are. But there can’t be any harm in meeting the vicar ahead of Saturday. And I trust these guys.

Something needs to be done. I can’t simply kill my father and hope that my secrets will die with him. They won’t. Of course he has backups and fail safes put in place to ensure that no one can escape his rule. Not even taking out The General and Mr Kelly will help.

I’m not proud of the things I’ve been forced to do, but of course, there’s no evidence to show I was given no choice. Only my – perceived – willing participation.

Eager, was the word my father used.

I feel sick.

“I’m not going,” Axel says sulkily, the next evening as I’m carrying an armful of blankets from the reading snug down to the lounge. The boys are standing in the foyer, arguing. Kaiden’s hands are on his hips and Axel’s arms are folded stubbornly over his chest, scowls firmly in place.

We wasted the entire day in bed, and while I have zero regrets, I also wouldn’t want to be in his shoes right now. Still, I’m surprised that despite all the orgasms he’s still this uptight.

His petulance makes me smirk though, even as Kaiden and Zie groan. Normally I wouldn’t fancy their chances at getting Axel Abbot to do anything he doesn’t want to do, but I know they’ve been planning this all week, and they won’t let their plans go to waste.

“Come on, mate,” Kaiden cajoles. “It’s tradition.”

“I don’t give a fuck about tradition. I don’t want or need a stag do, so I’m not having one.”

“I had to have one,” I point out, passing them by and drumming the blankets on the sofa.Is that enough blankets? Should I bring some candles down? What else does a girls’ night need? Fuck, I’m bad at this.

Leaving it be, I head back to the foyer, marching up to the guys.

“I wasn’t given a choice,” I remind them firmly. Admittedly, the hen do turned out to be a wonderful night – one of the best of my life – but I remember being in Axel’s shoes and not wanting to go either.

A sudden thought occurs to me and I turn on Axel, pointing my finger at him.

“No fucking strippers,” I snap, making Kaiden pout and Zie chuckle. Axel scoffs.

“I’ll cut your fucking dicks off if you let any desperate skanks near you,” I warn, deadly serious.

I’m realising that waking up and choosing violence is sometimes a good thing. It’s becoming a passion project of mine – one which Axel is only too keen to nurture and indulge. Plans for their fathers are coming along nicely and I’m practically chomping at the bit to put those wheels in motion.

“I’m not getting married on Saturday,” Kaiden mutters, and I spin and turn my sharp gaze on him, releasing the switchblade that I’ve taken to carrying with me again, and pointing it at his chest.

“You. Are. Fucking. Taken.” The tip of the blade touches him with each fiercely staccato word. “There may not be a ring going onyourfinger this weekend, but make no bones about it. You. Are. Mine. Zie too. And I will cause immeasurable pain to anyone who touches any of you, so you might want to warn the ladies of that tonight.”

“Fuck.” Kaiden’s silver eyes turn gunmetal grey as he swallows. “I can’t be the only one with a fucking boner when she talks like that.”

“No,” Axel chimes in happily, forgetting all about his temper tantrum from a minute ago. “I’m hard as steel now too.”

I smirk, the grin only widening when Zie wordlessly adjusts himself too.
