I huffed out a breath, feeling frustrated that’s what she noticed. “Yes, Siena. I got us separate rooms.”

She looked at me. Was that regret or relief I saw in her eyes?

“Okay,” she said. But I noted a faint hint of disappointment as she stuck them in her back pocket. Right on top of her ass, where I wished my hands were.

“But they are adjoining.” I raised my eyebrows. “You know, just in case.”

A snort of laugher escaped, and she covered her mouth. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Romeo.”

The familiar ache in my balls returned. “As I’ve learned, Ms. Moretti, in business and in pleasure, it’s always best to be prepared.”

“Yes, it certainly is.”

“Anyway, I wanted to come by and say hi. Let you know everything’s been taken care of. I’ll pick you up at eight.”

“I can drive us.”

“In that tin can of yours?” I shook my head. “No, thanks.”

Her eyes rolled back in derision. “Just ’cause it’s not a Benz doesn’t make it a tin can.”

“I know. But still.”

“Good, then I’ll pick you up at eight.”

“Nope. Sophia warned me about your lead foot. I’ll pickyouup at eight.” I held up my hand as she opened her mouth. “End of discussion, Ms. Moretti. You’re not going to win this argument, so just accept it.”

She blew out a frustrated breath. “Fine. You win.”

“Thank you. The last thing we need to do is fight about who’s driving.”

She shook her head and laughed. “Exactly. Do you want anything else?”

The sides of my mouth perked up at her words. I leaned on my elbows. “What might you suggest?”

She leaned toward me, just a few inches out of reach. I could feel her breath as she held my stare. I could see my reflection in those greenish-brown orbs, she was so close. She blinked once, twice. Held my gaze and leaned even closer, the tip of her tongue caressing her upper lip.

I returned the gesture, wishing I could lean in for a quick kiss.

She pulled her bottom lip in between her teeth.

I swallowed and could hear the echo of the sound in my head.

She let go of her lip, and a sexy smile pulled at the corners of her mouth. She cleared her throat. “I might recommend . . . a cold shower.”

I blinked twice before the words registered in my brain.

Siena laughed and smacked the back of my hand. “God, you’re so easy.”

“Only when it comes to you.” I hadn’t meant to admit that out loud.

It caught her off guard. “I-I-I,” she stuttered. “I mean . . . you know what I mean.”

“I sure hope I do.” I smiled. “I’ll see you tomorrow at eight.”

Mosby’s last words rang through my ears as I made my way back to the trailer—Good luck, Michael, you’re gonna need it.She was right. I was going to need all the luck I could get. I was completely screwed.
