“Sure babe, what’s up? Need some legal counsel? Did we kill someone?” She grins. “Actually don’t tell me. I plead the fifth!”

I shake my head at my rambling pixie sized friend as I push myself up out of the water. My dress sticks to me and I head to the little pool house, grateful that it has towels.

“Haven’t killed anyone, yet,” I mumble and she chuckles, following me out of the water to get the tequila from her bag.

I eye the guys who seem to be enjoying throwing a football back and forth across the pool and lower my voice.

“Will you find out if someone isn’t medically sound to make decisions, what all that means? Like legally what that allows the other person to be in charge of?”

She eyes me horrified once she realizes why I’m asking. “No fucking way!” She shouts. “I’ll skin him with my bare hands! Do you think that’s how he got this house? From your trust fund?!”

Her loud accusations draw the attention of the guys and I glare at her. She mouths an apology and holds the tequila out to me. I take a swig and make a face as it burns my throat. “Talk later,” is all I say and she nods without argument. “My dress is ruined,” I groan as I strip it off to dry completely.

I don’t miss the silence and eyes on me as I wrap myself in a towel. Bianca hands me the tequila as she steps closer. “I think they saw your burns,” she whispers.

Okay.

Half whispers.

“You suck at volume control,” I groan and down another swig straight from the bottle.

“Easy there, princess. I’m not cleaning up vomit,” Ax yells from the water.

“Obviously, you’re just the messenger boy. I’m sure one of the others can be on the clean up crew.”

Bianca snorts at the irritation on Ax’s face as he brushes wet locks of hair from his eyes but his friends just chuckle.

“Not it!” They both shout.

I roll my eyes but remind myself to take it easy on the alcohol. It’s been four years since I’ve even had a sip.

“So, fill me in on you,” I tell Bianca as we both sit on the lounge chairs.

I glance at her as she lays with her eyes closed in her undergarments that are now see through from the water, and silently wish I had her confidence. “Do you think they’d mind if I sunbathed nude? I hate tan lines,” she says, glancing over at the pool.

I groan. “Please don’t fuck them.”

“You can’t call dibs on all three!” She whines.

I laugh loudly. “Hardly. You do know who they are, right?”

She shrugs. “We haven’t been properly introduced,” she winks at me and I roll my eyes.

“Ax West,” I say nodding over and my face flushes when I realize they are all eavesdropping.

“Axel West’s son?” She hisses sitting up. “Of The Vipers?”

I grit my teeth and say nothing.

“Oh hell no. I know you have some daddy issues, we all do, girl. But your dad can’t let you live with your mom’s murderers!”

CHAPTER FOUR

“The fuck did you call us?” Ax snaps and the three of them quickly exit the pool.

Their smirks are gone and the scowl on Eli and Asher’s faces tells me that we overstepped in our gossiping.

“You heard me,” Bianca snaps, standing up to face them as if they don’t tower over her. “The police are in your pockets so of course you're all free of suspicion. But everyone knows who was responsible for that!”
