Which he didn’t.

But he sure knocked her around before throwing her down the stairs with the other guys. Eli hands her a new ice pack for her cheek and she seems smaller than her usual bigger than life personality, curled up on the dining chair in one of Kate’s oversized shirts.

“The number he was texting while he was here is registered to Walker Harris. I can’t see what they say yet, it’ll take some time. And Scott must have dumped the phone because I can’t track it.”

“His dad is in on it?” Eli asks, surprised. “Didn’t he say he was some car salesman?”

Bianca nods her head and then winces as she holds a palm to her temple. “Yeah. It’s a used car dealership downtown. It’s some family company that’s been run by them for generations.”

“Let’s go,” Ax says, grabbing up his gun.

Axel, Roy, and Eli stand immediately and I grab up my own gun.

“It’s the middle of the night, boys,” Red pipes up, eyeing us. “Doubt anyone is even down there.”

“He got any houses?” Eli asks Colt and Colt types away for a moment before nodding.

“I found a couple actually. A beach house down in Florida, a townhouse just outside of town, a house across from the dealership, and a brownstone in New York.”

“They make that much bank off of used cars?” Axel asks, eyeing us and I shake my head.

“There’s no fucking way,” I mutter. “I’m thinking their family business is more than just used cars.”

“The house and townhouse,” Ax says. “Eli, dad and Roy, you go check the townhouse. Asher, you and I will check the house. Colt, keep trying to get into those text messages.”

“Red and Lucky, Bianca doesn’t leave your sight,” I tell them and they both nod.

“I’m so s—“ Bianca starts with tears in her eyes.

I’m surprised when it’s Colt who interrupts her and squeezes her hand.

“It isn’t your fault,” he tells her firmly and I see his jaw tense.

“Not yours either, Colt,” I remind him and squeeze his shoulder as we head for the door.

“Only person to blame is that stupid fuck, Scott,” Ax hisses.

“We got any type of fucking plan?“ I ask climbing into the passenger seat.

“Fucking find out where she is, and make anyone involved in this shit regret it.”

CHAPTER FORTY ONE

ELI

Pulling up to the townhouse, I don’t see any car in the driveway and all the lights are off. I have Roy stay in the car and be ready to drive considering he is still hobbling on his feet and is useless inside. Any bad blood between Axel and I is gone for now as we nod to one another after he glances through the garage.

“One car.”

Colt texts me the pin pad code to unlock the townhouse and tells me he’s ready to shut off the alarm remotely as well. The best part about running one of the top security systems on the east coast is that all the rich fuckers use us for the house alarms.

Inside, I faintly make out the sound of a television and Axel and I scan the front rooms to confirm they are empty. Creeping the stairs is difficult and once we are at the second level, I spy a single door cracked open. The television can be seen throwing off light in the dark room but otherwise it is quiet.

I take lead towards the room, knowing Axel is more of a shoot first ask questions later type of guy and whoever is here we need to talk to before they bleed out on the carpet. If they had any hand in this shit that’s happened to Kate, I’ll be the one to drain them of their fucking last breath with my own hands.

Eyeing the crack in the door it looks like a bedroom and I can make out a lump at the end of the bed that seems to be someone’s feet. I check the other side of the room but there is nothing but the television on the wall.

“Other rooms are clear,” Axel whispers behind me and I nod my head.
