Multiple people eye Asher as he parks his bike and takes my jacket and helmet from me.

“Gotta get you some of your own gear,” he chuckles, and leads me towards a food truck.

We order coffee and cinnamon sticks and I thank Asher when he pays, feeling helpless.

“I should try to find a job or something,” I mutter out loud looking around at the shops. “Do you think anyone will hire someone fresh out of the looney bin?”

Asher shrugs. “Only if you don’t have to handle sharp objects.”

My mouth drops as I look up to see Asher grinning wickedly down at me. “How long have you been holding on to that one?”

“Literally since you told us,” he admits. “Good, right?”

I shove him and he laughs loudly. The sound makes my stomach flutter and my cheeks warm.

“How did school work when you were there? Do you have to redo high school?”

“Thank God, no. They had a GED program. But that was it. I guess I could look into some college classes, I just feel silly having no money to even buy my own coffees.”

Asher eyes me before laughing loudly and shaking his head at me. “You poor, poor girl. You really are so clueless.”

“I really wish you guys would stop saying that,” I frown and fidget uncomfortably under his stare as I sip my coffee.

“I just meant,” he sighs. “I just meant don’t worry about that shit okay. Money is just… money.”

“Did you just have a stroke?”

He chuckles and shakes his head. “I’m just saying you don’t need to worry about that for now. We got you.”

I raise an eyebrow at him over my coffee. “Out of the kindness of your Viper hearts?”

He shoots me a dirty look but then smiles forcefully. “Something like that.”

I shake my head at him as we walk around the small playground with our coffees.

“Do I even want to know where you guys get your money? I have hardly seen you leave the house.”

Asher chuckles. “Call it vacation time for now. We usually aren’t home so much.”

“Ah, but my dad has dubbed you all to be on babysitting duty while he travels the world with the she-devil?”

Asher laughs loudly and it makes me smile wide. He shakes his head, making his man bun flop around, and eyes me. “I wouldn't mind babysitting duty for a bit longer. But I actually have some work to do tonight at the bar.”

“You work at a bar?”

He smirks. “I own a bar, doll face.”

We head back towards his bike but instead of climbing on, he surprises me by pulling me into the bike shop we parked next to. After much protest, he finds me a leather jacket and helmet that fit better. I have to talk him out of buying me the pink one and he grins at the disgust on my face, instead, picking out a dark purple one. He adjusts the helmet for me as I pull on the jacket and spin once. “How does it look?”

“Sexy as hell,” he grins as his eyes skate me up and down.

My cheeks flush and I roll my eyes at him as I climb on the back of the bike. “No closing your eyes this time,” he teases and I gape at him.

“How’d you know I closed my eyes?”

He chuckles and the rumble in his chest shakes my body as I press myself to his back. “Lucky guess. Don’t worry babe, you’re safe with me. Enjoy the ride.”

I force my eyes to stay open this time and take in the rushing scenery as we pass. I squeal, despite myself, as he takes a hard turn and I’m still laughing from the high by the time we pull in the driveway. Climbing off the bike, my legs feel like jelly but I just grin like a crazy person as I pull the helmet off.
