“Sorry, is my pity party too loud?“ I chuckle.

He gives a sad smile and shakes his head. “Not at all. You wanna talk?”

“Not really,” I admit and he grins.

“Wanna cuddle?”

I chuckle and shake my head. “You’re ridiculous.”

“It made you smile, though,” he says softly and I nod as hair falls in my face.

“Very true. You’re a smart man, Asher.”

He grins and flexes. “Pretty hot too,” he winks at me.

I roll my eyes at him but his face turns serious again.

“Honestly though, your dad's kind of a dick.”

I force a smile and nod my head. “Yup.”

“Get some sleep, alright? It’s my turn to take you out for coffee tomorrow.”

He grins at me and I cock an eyebrow. “It’s your turn?”

He nods simply as he stands. “Eli took you last time you were upset. Now, it’s my turn.”

“So, every time I’m upset, you guys are going to take turns to bring me for coffee?”

“Will it make you smile?” He grins, and I can’t help laughing back.

“Probably.”

“Then absolutely that’s what the plan is moving forward. Get some sleep, babe.”

He smiles once more before closing the door and I shake my head trying to hold back my laughter as I lay down to fall asleep.

My dad may be a dick but at least the guys are somewhat bearable .

CHAPTER NINE

Morning coffee with Asher proves to be very different from morning coffee with Eli. I first realize that when I get to the garage and find him sitting on a motorcycle and holding a helmet out to me.

“Uhh,” I stutter, eyeing him.

He smirks at me. “Don’t be scared. I got you, remember?”

“Please, don’t kill me,” I whine as I grab the helmet from him.

He laughs as he tightens the straps on the helmet under my chin and hands me an extra leather jacket that is far too big for me. “I feel like I’m drowning in here,” I tell him.

He chuckles and zips it up. “You’ll be fine. Climb on.”

He straddles the death trap and pats the seat behind him. I hesitate, grateful that he just sits patiently waiting for me.

“Wrap your arms around and hold on tight, alright?” He glances at me, and I nod my head.

He lowers his helmet on his head and starts up the motorcycle. I squeeze my body to him, ignoring the fluttering that happens in my stomach, as he takes off down the driveway. I squeeze my eyes shut, terrified that if I open then I will see a truck barreling at us, and after about fifteen minutes we pull up to town square.
