The doctor sighs as he looks over paperwork.

“Seems like it was a rough time. Lots of isolation time. Having to be restrained. Says here you went after a doctor with a chair?”

Eli looks at me wide eyed, but my eyes are glued to the screen.

“Sounds like your summary of events is missing quite a few things,” she bites back.

The doctor laughs softly and shakes his head. “Ah yes. Your stories. We won’t be discussing any of that. Indulging in delusions only makes them more real.”

“They are real, you stupid fuck,” she snaps at him.

He sighs and starts digging through his bag.

“We’ve decided to start you on a new regimen of medications,” he says as he pulls four bottles from his briefcase.

“Jesus Christ,” Eli groans, shaking his head.

“I’m not on any medications. I haven’t been for almost six months,” Kate argues and I swear I can see her body trembling even through the pixelation on the screen.

“And it sounds like it’s about time you get back on them,” he snaps back. “You’ll take these two every morning and every night. This one is once in the morning. And this will be as needed for sleep.”

“What are they?”

“I’ll number the bottles so you know when to take them.”

“I asked what they were,” she repeats, and I smirk at her feisty attitude.

She never was a girl to just back down.

“You needn’t worry yourself with that. I don’t need you researching side effects to make up. That’s how you got off your medications last time, am I right?”

“Yeah, because access to the internet was just readily available to me,” she hisses with sarcasm.

“Should we stop this?” Eli asks and I shake my head.

“Not yet. Worst case she pisses him off, he leaves to call her dad, and it just buys us more time to figure out how to fix the durable power of attorney.”

Eli nods silently, but as the doctor stands up, I see his body tense as my own fists clench.

“Your diagnoses will require lifelong medication management, Miss Randell. You’ll see things are much easier to handle once you accept that and adjust to the medications.”

“What diagnoses?” She asks but her eyes don’t leave him as he walks towards her.

He crosses his arms and towers over her but she holds her ground as she glares up at me. My own anger is getting to a breaking point watching him trying to intimidate her.

“PTSD. Insomnia. Bipolar. Eating disorders. Schizophrenia. Dissociative amnesia. Depression. Anxiety. Paranoid delusions.”

“Are you just listing off random shit? That’s bullshit. And I’m not taking those.”

The doctor smirks down at her. My spine straightens as I try to compose myself rather than go down and kick him the fuck out of my house.

“You’ll do whatever I say, because it’s your father’s choice. Not yours. Now, you’ll take these or I’ll give you an injection that lasts a month. Trust me, it would be much easier for me to only visit once a month.”

“You psycho,” she gasps, standing up and moving around the chair to get space between him. “You can’t do that!”

“I can. And I have approval to do so. So, which is it?”

“Where did you get your medical license? What hospital are you even affiliated with?”
