He doesn’t get another word out as Ax’s fist connects with Stix’s face making a deafening crunch sound. I cover my mouth to bite back my yell as blood gushes from his nose.

Eli chuckles as he walks past me and shakes his head.

“Fuckin death wish, man,” Eli mutters as he half drags Stix out of the house.

Ax breathes heavily as he turns to face me and I scoot backwards down the hall away from him. “Don’t look at me, I didn’t do anything.”

Ax smirks and shakes his head at me. “Not with Stix, no. But you did lie to me, princess.”

I frown at him.

“You do play.”

It takes a minute to realize he’s talking about the instruments in the other room and I frown at him.

“You just punched your friend in the nose and you wanna scold me for lying?”

Ax chuckles darkly. “Hardly a friend. Just a resource.”

As if that clears anything up or makes anything better.

“Go to bed.”

With that he turns and locks himself in the study. Guys are psycho. Or at least, these guys are.

I hurry up to my room and when I flick on the light I freeze in the doorway. I forgot to ask about cameras. I chew my thumb nail, contemplating whether to confront Ax or not. I finally find my courage as I stomp back down to the first floor.

Fuck these stairs.

I take a breath to calm my nerves and knock on the door. It opens and I find Ax eyeing me curiously.

“What?”

“I know you have cameras everywhere,” I hesitate as I glance past him towards the lit up monitor.

“Yes?” He answers confused.

“Well, are there any like…”

He raises an eyebrow waiting for me to finish before finally smirking. “You wondering if I watch you sleep? That’s a pretty big ego you got there.”

I glare at him. “Just want to know if you’re a perv or not.”

He laughs and shakes his head. “There’s no cameras in your room.”

“Or bathroom?” I add and he glares at me.

“You think so little of everyone, princess, or just me?”

“Everyone,” I mutter honestly without thinking.

His face falters and he steps aside. “Come sit.”

He motions to the chair at the computer monitor and I eye him curiously before sitting down. He clicks buttons on the screen that scroll through each of the rooms. Every room and hallway shows through the screen except for the bedrooms and bathrooms.

I’m about to get up when I sit back down with my arms crossed. “Is there sound?”

He clicks another button and the security office shows up and we hear them banter back and forth over a card game they are playing.
