I smile sadly at her. “I don’t know how exactly it happened, but my dad made a deal with me while I was still being dosed on all those medications everyday. Everything is still a blur. But he promised that the doctor wouldn’t be allowed to work with me or come near me at all; said he’d have to change facilities, but in return I had to sign paperwork that I’d never talk about it again. Everyone just kept insisting that I needed to stop living in my delusions but, it was really just to be sure he didn’t lose his license or get charged. I was so desperate though, Bee. I just never wanted to see him again. So, I signed it.”

Bianca squeezes my hand. “You did what you had to. I’m so proud of you.”

I laugh darkly and shake my head. “Don’t be proud of me. Because of me he’s still working and probably doing the same thing to someone else. Not only that, but my dad tried saying that now that I’m home, he could be my doctor again—”

“Over my dead fucking body!”

I smile at her and stand up, using a mirror to wipe away the tear stains from my face.

“Your dad actually helped me. My dad is not my proxy anymore, he can’t make any decisions. Once I have a real doctor to clear me, one that’s not in my dad's pocket, I can officially be mentally stable enough to make my own choices,” I roll my eyes.

“Wait, so who is your proxy now?”

I grimace knowing she won’t like the answer. “Ax.”

“How in the fuck did that happen?!” She shouts standing up quickly.

“I don’t know, honestly. And I haven’t even asked any more questions about it. It happened so fast, and after seeing your dad to sign paperwork there was this huge messy conversation with my dad and the step monster,” I sigh. “My dad’s probably out for blood as we speak. And the doctor, I guess, is MIA. Which is why Ax is making people babysit me.”

“Do you think he’s gonna come after you?”

“I didn’t think so, until stupid Ax put the thought in my head with this whole being on lock down and guarded by his stupid gang at all times,” I mumble.

Bianca sighs and takes another sip of tequila.

“I am officially the worst friend. I didn’t know any of this was happening. I would have come and found you, you know that right?”

I laugh loudly and take a sip of the tequila. “You’d break me out of the looney bin?”

She grins. “Sounds like fun to me.”

She glances behind me and eyes the cello.

“Know what else sounds fun?”

“Hard pass.”

She pouts and runs her hand over the wood of the cello. “But it’s so pretty. It looks brand new.”

“Then you play it,” I laugh.

“Ugh,” she grimaces. “That would be tragic and we both know it. Something this beautiful should only be played by the musical prodigy herself.”

“Don’t call me that,” I roll my eyes.

“It’s true,” she laughs. “Your mom—” she falters and I smile sadly as I think of her.

“She was so embarrassing,” I chuckle. “Her little prodigy,” I quote her. “She’d tell anyone who would listen.”

Bianca smiles and hugs me tightly. We start to head out and she stops dead in her tracks eyeing me before we enter the kitchen.

“I am such a bitch!” She shouts and I raise an eyebrow at her. “I have totally been teasing you about being a prude when you—”

“Ugh stop, you’re fine. Whether I was a virgin or a whore I don’t think I’d ever want to know details of your sex life. Maybe I am a prude afterall.”

“No fun,” she pouts as we head back towards the kitchen. “Because I definitely want to fill you in on the multiple orgasms last night.”

Someone snorts with laughter and I realize the cracked kitchen door has let the guys hear her comment. She grins at Scott and he high fives Red. I roll my eyes as they start kissing and one of the guys throws a condom at them.
