“A scholarship?” I ask, surprised and Asher smiles.

“May have applied for a few of those as well for you.”

“How much is it for?” Eli asks, glancing at Asher and then me.

I feel my stomach twist in excitement and my face warms. I can’t even hide the smile taking over my face.

“A full ride? But… how? There’s no way. I never would have thought to even apply. I only have a GED!”

“Soon you’ll have a college degree to go with that GED,” Asher laughs, holding his beer to me as a toast.

I step to him and wrap my arms tightly around his waist. His arms wrap around me and his hand cups the back of my neck. I feel him press his lips to the top of my head and suddenlybecome aware of the other eyes in the room. My face reddens as I move out of his grasp but Asher just smirks at me, not caring that we are being watched.

“I’ll leave you guys to your stalking,” I chuckle awkwardly. “But, thank you, Ash.”

“Ash,” I hear Colt chuckle, and Asher flips him off.

I head back to my room to text Bianca the news — I’m heading to college this fall!

CHAPTER TWENTY THREE

ASHER

“I know what the fuck you did,” Ax says the minute Katelyn is out of ear shot.

I grin at him as I cross my arms and lean back against the counter. “Mad you didn’t think of it?”

I don’t give two fucks if he’s butt hurt I thought of getting Kate enrolled in college classes and setting up a full ride scholarship for her. She already hates the idea of not being able to afford coffees for herself, she doesn’t need to know I’m paying for her college. All that matters is that smile she had two minutes ago when she realized her dream of going to college like a normal girl is now a reality.

And I fucking made that happen.

“Yes,” Eli spits, bitterly.

“So, do I even want to guess which one of you is dating her?” Colt pipes up from the computer, not even looking at us.

“Mind your business,” Eli warns him, but Colt just laughs.

I don’t know the guy all that well, just that Eli calls on him when he needs something done with discretion. He may be some genius computer nerd but I can tell there’s more to him than just that.

“You find them yet?” Ax asks, glancing at the screen and pulling my attention back.

“Stephen and Mary seem to be somewhere in Mexico. It’s scattered, they must have cash they are using which is why the payments are sporadic.”

“Where the hell would they be getting cash from?” I snort.

No one answers. Because no one knows.

“This Russel Thorne guy, though? That’s a whole different story,” Colt sighs and runs a hand across his face in frustration.

“You still can’t fuckin’ find him?” Ax growls and I see Colt’s jaw tighten.

The guy may not be a viper but he doesn’t even hesitate to glare at Ax. Gotta hand it to him, he’s got some fucking balls.

Or a death wish.

“It’s not just that,” Colt snaps and shakes his head. “It’s like he’s a ghost. He doesn’t exist. I think the name is an alias. But without a picture, a fingerprint or anything more than just the name, I can’t run him through the software to figure out who he really is.”

“He’s got a license for medicine though, doesn't he?” Eli asks, joining us at the table and he passes me another beer.
