If we don’t get better news soon, I’m gonna need something stronger.

Fuck.

“Technically yes, but going through these certifications, unless this guy died back in the 50’s I doubt it’s his actual license. And these hospitals you had me look up for the NDAs? They are all private institutions that contract out employees. Someoneis covering something up but I think it’s more than just some rapes.”

“Just some rapes?” I snap at him.

“He means,” Eli glares at me before Colt can say anything. “It’s worse than just a handsy doctor.”

“Fuck,” Ax groans. “An entire hospital chain employing pedophiles and rapists? How?”

“Whoever is running it…” I start and eye Ax and Eli who both just nod.

“It’s not just some low level group,” Ax says, banging his hand on the table. “This is some twisted shit. What can you find on the other NDA’s?”

Colt hesitates and I raise an eyebrow at him- waiting. “Spit it out.”

He looks like he wants to strangle me and for a brief moment I wonder if I should have kept my gun on me. The dark look in his eye says if he gets his hands on me, it’ll be a fight to the death.

“What I found is hard to explain…” he finally admits as he seems to calm himself and begins typing on his computer. “But I think I’ve found a pattern.”

He turns his screen to us and four different girls' faces pop up.

“Each scenario varies but basically,” he sighs. “For one reason or another a girl winds up at one of these facilities. All owned by Valley Hill. They all are patients of various doctors including this Doctor Thorne. They spend an extended time there, anywhere from six months to the four years your girl did. When they getout…” he hesitates and that hesitation makes me sick to my stomach.

“Tell us,” Eli says with a nod but I can see his face is tight with emotion.

“They disappear,” Colt finally admits. “Some are listed as a runaway; others as suicide. Either way they are just gone.”

“How’s that a pattern? They have mental health issues,” Eli says, shaking his head.

“The issue is,” Colt says, clicking on other screens. “All of their parents come into the same amount of money as a settlement from these NDA’s.”

“Circumstantial,” Ax says. “Girls have mental health issues, deal with a handsy doctor, get out and can’t cope so they spiral downhill. We need more than that.”

“How about all of the girls sign an NDA that is edited three months later with their forged signatures? But the edited documents aren’t actually NDA’s. They’re set up more like contracts.”

“You found out what they say?” I ask him anxiously.

“Not yet. But they aren’t filed and witnessed like true NDA’s. They edit the original form along with making a duplication. My guess?” He says, glancing up at us darkly and closing his screen. “The original doesn’t include a settlement. The edited one does. None of the girls know about the money. Then that money is ciphered through the contracts to make it look like a legit settlement.”

“They're buying the girls,” Ax finally says and I stand from the table, not able to hear this shit anymore.

“I’m not positive yet. But… that’s what it looks like,” Colt says, nodding his head.

“Which means Stephen signed that contract and someone’s gonna be looking to collect soon,” Ax hisses.

“No one is collecting shit!” I warn him.

He is in my face within seconds and I shove him back.

“No shit, asshole!” He shouts at me.

I open and close my fists, trying to relieve the urge to punch him. The urge doesn’t go away. I shove him off and head towards the gym.

Fuck just standing here staring at each other.

I need to hit something.
