Even though I know he needs to join his club brothers, I don’t like it.

Licking my lips, I ask, “Is it okay if I stay where I can see you?”

A ghost of a smile slides across his face. “Of course,” he rasps. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, Princess.”

As Gray goes to join them, I follow, waving Alana and Rose over after I sit down at the booth just on the other side of the glass.

“I’ll stay here,” I say. “But what do you need me to do?”

Alana shudders and looks down at her feet. “W-we need to—”

Rose interrupts her, impatiently. “We need to divide rooms, and make sure everything is ready for when they’re done in church. If you don’t mind, I’ll do that.”

“Thank you,” I breathe, taking her good hand into mine. “I’m glad you’re okay.”

She sniffs and quickly wipes a few tears away with her marred hand. “I’m glad you’re okay, too.”

As soon as Rose disappears, the elevator doors slide open and Rocco and Slasher walk through. Well, Rocco walks, shouldering Slasher who looks like he’d face-plant without the help of his Prez.

“Slasher!” Alana squeals.

Although he turns his head in her direction, I’m not sure if he sees her. Hell, I’m not sure he sees anything.

“Where are they?” Rocco grunts.

Knowing who he’s asking about, I point to the door. “They’re in there.”

He gives me a sharp nod and continues walking toward us. I half expect him to make Slasher sit at one of the tables, but he doesn’t. Instead, he drags the surviving twin into the room with him before slamming the door.

Although I probably shouldn’t be, I’m surprised he took Slasher with him. He isn’t in a state to be of much help with… whatever they are doing in there. But maybe it isn’t about that. I guess it’s possible that Rocco is strict enough to enforce the mandatory attendance regardless of Slasher’s loss.

“Why couldn’t he let Slasher be?” I hiss on a whisper.

Following my gaze, Alana pitches her voice so low I’m the only one who can hear her. “They all have to attend church. But for what it’s worth, I think he wants to try to distract Slasher.”

I guess that makes sense.

Alana continues talking, I think she’s making some suggestions about what we should do. But try as I might, I can’t focus on what she’s saying. Now that Gray isn’t here, isn’t touching me, I feel like I’m free-falling into an abyss.

As I look over my shoulder, I catch him staring directly at me, the intensity rolling off of him in thick waves that travel to me through the air.

I try to smile, but it feels more like a grimace so I quickly stop. Instead, I look right back at him, trying to convey with my eyes what I can’t say.

I need you, Gray.

Grayson

ComingbackheretoDirty Diamonds was our only choice if we wanted to ensure everyone was protected. The clubhouse is in a bad way. Mostly the front and down the side. We will find out in a week or two if it can be rebuilt.

In the meantime, Dirty Diamonds is our new home. Or hideout, depending on how you look at it.

“How the fuck did this happen?” Rocco sighs, roughly dragging his fingers through his hair as we huddle in Dante’s office.

I’ve positioned myself so I can see Zoe where she is in the main room of Dirty Diamonds with the Cruz Cunts, getting our new refuge set up. I need to have eyes on her, but to be honest, it’s not fucking good enough. I need her right here next to me where I can protect her. Shield her.

“Titch. Doug. You two were on the gates. How did they get through?” I ask, momentarily dragging my gaze from my princess to see Titch and Doug look wide eyed at each other.

“Someone fucking speak!” Rocco yells, slamming his fist on the desk.
