He gripped her cheeks in his hands. “I love you, Special Agent Rosalie Zenner. I love you for your fearlessness and your stubbornness. Your compassion and your loyalty. I love you for the way you fought for my sister. For me. I never want to discharge you from my life.”

“Good.” Tears shone in her eyes as she covered her hands with his. “Because I’m never signing the papers.”

“What are you saying, Snow Angel?” His knees wobbled as he waited for her answer.

She licked her lips. “I’m saying I’m not going to LA.”

He blinked. Wonder as pure as the snow and as warm as the blood flowing in their bound hearts rushed through his body. “Are you sure? I can’t be the reason you give up your dream job.”

She splayed her hands on his chest. “You’re my new dream, and it’s certainly a job looking over you and everyone in this hospital. That is if you want me around.”

He didn’t try to keep the hope out of his voice. “As what?”

“As your everything.”

“Youaremy everything. I knew you were from the day you beat me down the mountain.” He ran his finger over the healing cut on her forehead. “I love you, Rosalie, and terrorists or not,I’ll always protect you. We’ll make this work. Denver isn’t too far. It will be tough for the first few weeks of the drug trial, but?—”

She placed her finger on his lips. “Grady told me about a new cyber unit within the Colorado State Patrol. Seems I’m at the top of their list to head it up.”

A gush of joy knocked him off center. “You’re taking the job?”

“Yes.” She steadied him with her hand. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fucking ecstatic.” He lifted her from the bed and spun her in a circle, careful not to jostle her injured arm. When he set her down, he kissed her and didn’t stop until breathing became a necessity.

“You’re really staying in Red Snow?”

A tear fell down her cheek. “Now that you’ve helped heal my heart, I’m giving it to you. I love you, Dr. Cannon Ford.” She pressed her lips to his.

Happiness swirled through him like a snowstorm on the sunniest day. “I love you too. I can’t believe you’re going to stay.”

“As long as you’re here, this is where my home will be. I’m all in with you, with Julia. We kicked Malgor’s ass, and we can help Julia kick cancer’s. We’re in this together.”

“Together.” He kissed her again, drinking in everything that was Rosalie, not believing his ears, yet marveling at every word that had come out of the cherry lips he planned to taste for the rest of his life.

She pulled back. “Speaking of together, your rock-scraping tactic at the cabin was brilliant. Just how many times did Grady and Easton interrupt you kissing girls at summer camp?”

“I don’t remember.” He really couldn’t recall and didn’t want to try. “But I promise you’ll be the last girl I ever kiss.” He nipped her chin. “And my lips will be the last ones to ever taste your sweet mouth.”

She laughed. “What a cheesy line, and bossy too, but I’ll let it slide since it’s Valentine’s Day.”

“I thought you hated February fourteenth.”

She pressed her lips to his and murmured, “Not anymore, as long as you’re the man I’m celebrating with. Now, how about we celebrate in your hot tub?”

EPILOGUE

Rosalie glided next to Cannon and peered over the icy crust of Lucifer’s Lair. “We’re tied at two wins apiece. Last run of the day, and you’re going down, Ford.”

It had been eight months since they’d met at the top of this slope. Months of learning more about each other with and without clothes. And months of supporting Julia as she endured the horrible side effects of the drug trial. Rosalie had never been more challenged in her work or happier. All of it was thanks to a chance meeting with the incredible man next to her.

Cannon pulled off his gloves and stuck a hand in his pocket. “I believe you were the one who went down this morning, Snow Angel.” He smiled like a satisfied male. “On your knees, if I recall.”

She shivered at the memory of him gripping her hair like he’d never let her go and returned his smile with carnal pride. “You’d better recall the way you screamed my name when I made you come.” She cocked her head to the slope. “Ready to do this?”

Instead of a snarky comeback, he pulled a black velvet box from inside his pocket and held it between them. “Ready to do forever?”

“Cannon…”
