He flipped open the box. Her mouth dropped open at the brilliant diamond encircled by smaller rubies. “Oh my God.” She brought her gloved hands to her mouth. “It’s beautiful. The stones. They’re…”

“Wild and sweet. Like the way you taste.” He tilted the box, and the sun made the gems glitter. “I hope you like it.”

“I love it,” she breathed. “I love you.”

She leaned over and kissed her fiancé.

Her savior.

He smiled that devastating smile that had melted her defenses eight months ago and snapped the box shut. “First one to the bottom gets to pop the question.”

She laughed. The sound of her own happiness flooded her heart and cemented in her soul. “You’re on as long as I’m the one that gets to wear that stunning ring.”

“You get to wear the badgeandthe ring?”

“Not my fault you’re too old to be an agent.”

“You’re going to pay for that comment later, Zenner.” He winked and zipped the box into his pocket. “If you get the badge and the ring, what do I get out of this proposal?”

“Me. Forever.”

He pressed a kiss to her lips and pulled on his goggles. “Then get your fearless, sweet ass to the bottom so we can start our forever today.”
