I reached inside my pants pocket and pulled out a small syringe, approaching her as she stared up at me through wide, glazed pupils. The tubing she’d used to tie around her arm was beside her on the floor.

“Get away from me!” she wailed, tucking herself impossibly tighter in the corner. “I won’t do it. I have to do better. Be better.”

“But the bugs,” I spoke in a fake, caring tone. “Don’t you want them to stop?”

“I-I do, yes,” she desperately nodded.

“Then pick up that tube and do what you do best. The bugs will disappear and then all will be right in your precious little world again. Doesn’t that sound good?”

“I-I don’t want to die,” she began to weep.

“You won’t.”Not yet at least.

With shaking hands, she reached out and grabbed the tube, using her teeth to help tie it around her arm before she began pressing against her skin seeking a vein.

“Do you want to do the honors, or should I?”

She shot forward and yanked the heroin out of my hand, groaning as she injected herself.

“Good girl,Lillyanne.”

My grin spread wider as I backed away, watching as her head fell back and her eyes fluttered.

“Such a good fucking girl.”
