Adria gasped in surprise as he grabbed her arms and pulled her close. He looked at her with such passion, she was at a loss for words. His lips came crashing down on hers with a fever she had never felt before. His hands wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer, she held his shoulders to steady herself. He deepened the kiss, slowly parting her lips with his tongue, exploring her mouth.

Adria moaned; this was what she always thought it would be like to kiss him. Feeling his soft, moist lips press against hers made her tremble with desire. She slid her hands up around his neck and kissed him back hard. When he broke it off, they were both breathing hard, gazing at each other with lust. She could feel his taunt muscles quiver as she slid her hands down his chest. Her legs felt weak as she slowly moved herself against him, wanting, needing more. He tilted his head as he caressed her cheek with his thumb, sending shivers through her whole body. Adria thought he had never looked so damn sexy as he did right now.

Adria pulled him toward her and kissed him as he fumbled to open his bedroom door behind them. Her heart was beating so fast with anticipation, she could feel her blood pumping through her veins. They spilled into the room while taking off each other's clothes, exploring each other with their hands and lips. Spencer pushed her half-naked body onto the bed, pulling off her remaining clothes.

Adria pushed herself up on the bed as she watched him finish undressing; his body was glorious, lean, and taunt. The look of desire in his eyes drove her crazy. She parted her legs as he slid himself up to her; Adria gasped as she felt his hardness press against her quivering thigh. Slowly, he took her rosy peakin his mouth, flicking gently with his tongue. She could feel her wetness below, yearning for him. He took his time kissing and suckling, making her tremble and moan with desire. He trailed kisses up to her neck as she felt him tease her folds. Adria kissed his shoulder as she stroked his back, she could feel his body shiver under her touch.

“Take me,” she whispered breathlessly in his ear, needing him, wanting him.

He moaned as he slowly slid into her. Adria cried out with the pleasure and pain of his girth parting her. She trailed her hands down to his butt and guided him to go deeper. His rhythm quickened as she rocked her hips, meeting his every thrust.

Adria wrapped her legs around his waist and bit his shoulder as she felt the first wave of pure joy wash over her, crying out again. He pulled himself up to look into her eyes, never stopping his momentum. Seeing his smoldering gaze, Adria gently pulled him toward her. She parted his lips with her tongue and kissed him deeply again.

When he pulled back, he looked into her eyes again and moaned as his thrusts went deeper, harder inside her. Adria felt the bed move as he took her fast and passionately. She cried out again as the second wave washed over her, her legs shaking. As she rode the wave, she felt him shudder with his release inside of her, slowing down until he laid his head beside hers.

Adria stroked his back as they both lay there, still tangled up in each other. She didn’t want to let him go just yet. The feel of his breath on her neck, his heart beating against her chest, the rhythm matching hers, the feel of him inside her. She never thought this would ever happen, that she would get to experience the feel of his touch. It was everything she thought it would be and more. Spencer gently kissed her neck, sendingshivers through her whole body as he slowly pulled away and rested beside her.

“Are you ok?” he asked as he pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her. Adria was visibly trembling, she couldn’t help it, the pleasure she felt made her body sing.

“Yes, I am. Spencer, that was…incredible,” she managed to say through her slowing gasps of breath. He kissed her neck again and gently cupped her breast, giving her another trail of shivers.

“Yes, it was. It was amazing,” he whispered in her ear.

They lay there together, holding each other as their bodies calmed and returned to normal. Adria loved the feel of his skin pressed against hers, the heat of him keeping her warm. The feel of his arms around her, strong and protective. She knew he wanted her to keep out of her father's path, of any danger, but she just couldn’t.

“Spencer, please listen to me. I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but just try to understand. I'm staying here in Rosewood. This is my home, and nothing will stop me from defending it, no matter the threat. It doesn’t matter to me that it’s my father. Remember, he has never been a father to me, up until a couple of days ago, I thought he was dead. He has never cared about me or even tried to see how we live. I don’t know and don’t want to know why he is the way he is. He spent all that time with my mother and still couldn’t see—wouldn’t see—our true nature. He is not family. To me, he is the enemy, and nothing will change that. I don't want to get to know him. I don’t want to see if I can change him. He needs to pay for what he did to my mother; he needs to be held accountable for his actions, his ignorance.” She felt Spencer sigh as he contemplated her words.

“I guess you’re right. I do understand where you’re coming from. I don’t like it at all, but I understand. You willbe going through what everyone else does to prepare for this: the drills, the training, patrol duty. I won't be holding back just because we, well…you know,” he said with a smile.

“That’s fine. I wouldn’t expect anything different. And thank you for understanding,” she replied as she turned and softly kissed him on the lips. He took a deep breath in and pushed himself off of the bed.

“You keep kissing me like that and were never going to make it out of this room.” He laughed. “We better get up and get dressed before people wonder where we disappeared to,” he finished.

“You’re right,” she agreed, getting up and hunting around the room for her clothes. After she quickly got dressed, she couldn’t help but wonder if this was it for them.

Was this just a one-time deal? A moment of shared passion never to be revisited?Adria sighed and pushed the thought away.

There were more pressing matters to deal with right now. They had to make sure their heads were on straight and stay focused to keep themselves alive and the pack safe. When this was all over, she planned on talking to him, seeing where his head and his heart were at. She decided she would accept any answer he gave her as long as they could still manage to keep their friendship. It might not be exactly how it had been before, but she knew that they would always be there for each other.

Chapter 6 - Spencer

Spencer couldn’t believe how busy he had been for the past two weeks. Every hour of every day seemed to have been filled with something. He still had the pack to keep calm, training and drills to oversee, and patrols to coordinate. Thankfully, the meeting with the council went very well. The members were able to have all the packs keep a close eye out and keep each other aware of the hunter's whereabouts as soon as news of him came up. Being able to track him the little that they could give them a better advantage as to the direction he was going. Some packs were assembling small groups to go and try to cut him off before he hit any other towns, but the trail had gone cold; he was like a ghost to them right now. It was like he knew they were now hunting him. He was good, almost too good.

The fighters of the pack had been assembled for intense training, starting very early in the morning and sometimes going for the majority of the day into the night. He knew he was pushing everyone hard, but they hadn’t been in any kind of a battle for a very long time, or ever, for some. He wanted them to feel the confidence of being ready, knowing that they could beat the enemy. Others, like the elderly and the very young, were given self-defense training and a clear plan to get to the closest panic room as fast as they could. Town lockdown drills were performed daily and unexpectedly, he knew that this had some people on edge, but being too relaxed could mean death for everyone.

Madox, Benet, and Mitchell ran drills morning, noon, and night, helping as best as they could. No one was spared and coddled; Spencer knew a woman could fight just as well as a man with the proper training. But he decided that he would train Adria himself. He wanted to make sure she was still taking thisall in, that she still understood the risks she was taking. He also wanted to keep her as close to him as possible, wanting to always have her in his sights. Since their encounter, he couldn't stop thinking about her, the way she moved, the way she felt under him, her alluring scent, and how soft her eyes went when she…

“Hey, you awake over there?” Benet yelled at him with his arms out, pulling him out of his thoughts. “You look like you were lost in LaLa land, Spence. We don’t have time for that. Your next round of training is on its way.”

“Yes, I know. I’m here. Just a lot of strategy on my mind,” he tried to pass off, shaking his head.

“Uh-huh,” Benet replied, knowing he was lying. “Well, whoever you're thinking about, keep it in check, will ya?” He smiled, pointing to the group of people, including Adria, coming into the town hall.

“Who are you thinking about?” she asked, as she approached them. Spencer just waved his hand and rolled his eyes at Benet.

“He’s just being a jerk,” Spencer tried to deflect, feeling his face reddened with embarrassment. He watched, as she looked at Benet and shrugged, and hoped she didn’t figure out it was her he was thinking about.

As the training session started, he had everyone do the usual warm-up routines of stretches and running around the room. He watched everyone closely, measuring their performance and stamina, and noticed that Adria was falling behind.
