She shakes her head like I don’t understand. She’s basically speaking in a fucking riddle, so I don’t know what she expects right now. “M-Money.”
Oh.Shit. She found out about the money I’ve been taking. “I’ll put it back once I have Belle. He’ll pay me back,” I say with more confidence than I have. He’ll at least restart payments for Mother’s care. That’s about all he’s promised.
She doesn’t look convinced. Or maybe she does. I don’t fucking know. I don’t have time to figure out her new disappointed face right now.
“I best be going,” I say, leaning forward to place a kiss on her head. She makes a noise that sounds like a protest, but I ignore her and walk out of her room.
“Martha!” I bark at the pudgy nurse sitting in the chair at the nurse’s station. She doesn’t jump like most would at my tone. Instead, she plasters on a fake smile and waits for me to tell her what I want. “Don’t call me again unless it’s an emergency. I will visit Mother when I am able, and not a moment sooner.”
I don’t wait to hear a response. I need to get to Boston and get Belle. She has somehow become the only way to get my life back on track. I knew the stupid bitch was trouble when I first met her. She’d be better buried.
Hmm. Now that’s a thought.

“Stop pacing. It’s annoying.”
“I can’t help it,” I grumble.
I’ve been an anxious mess since Cal and Belle left for the airport a few hours ago.
“They won’t be back until tomorrow night at the earliest. You need to relax,” Willa says, not even trying to hide her annoyance.
“I can’t relax. She’s going to be too close!” I shout while pulling on my hair.
“I’m going to need you to explain that one,” Mav says, rubbing a hand over his tired face. It’s late and we should be sleeping. We fly out to Germany in the morning.
“To Brad. She’s going to be too close to Brad!”
“Oh. I didn’t even think of that,” Willa says, frowning.
“Unless someone spots them, they’ll be fine. He thinks she’s here with us and there’s no reason to think she would fly out because her aunt died. If she was going to do that, she would have done it weeks ago. As far as he knows anyway,” Mav says before yawning.
“She’s also with Cal. Belle claims Brad is a coward and would never interact with Cal so I’m sure she’ll be ok even if someone sees them,” Willa says before standing and stretching.
“Right. Yeah,” I say, feeling only slightly better.
“I’m going to sleep. They’re in the air for another few hours, anyway,” Willa says and Mav seconds.
“Good idea,” I say as I follow them towards the bunks.
I know I won’t sleep. I haven’t felt this type of panic since Ezra went missing. Belle could be walking into the lion’s den and there’s nothing I can do to protect her.

BELLE
We landedin Germany with enough time to check into our hotel and rush to the venue. We missed sound check, so the best we can do is hope our friends did it for us.
“You made it!” Willa yells as she barrels into me.
“Five minutes!” Nate yells as he passes us.
I look around and see Kai talking on the phone. He seems angry.
“What’s going on?” I ask Willa, pointing to Kai with my chin.
