A fist flew at his eyes that he grabbed immediately, and another came for his jaw that he also dodged and intercepted all with one hand to quickly pin her wrists over her head.

“Leave us be,” he called out to everyone without taking his eyes off her. “Tend to the human and donothurt him, or there will be punishment. Lock all the doors when you’re inside.”

The sound of footsteps and clanking metal fell away from him as he looked down at Mierna.

She breathed heavily, beads of sweat running down her body that had turned pink from moving so rigorously. Her plump lips were parted to breathe easier, and her hair looked a blue silver in the darkness.

He smiled at her teasingly. “You’re rather beautiful when you’re upset, you know?”

“That won’t quell my anger,” she seethed. “You should fight me instead. I’ve had enough of your mischief too.”

“Oh?” he cackled softly. “That sounds like you’re giving up, Princess.”

“I’m not!”

He only smirked as she looked away, noting how her eyes began to soften from fury to mild annoyance. The tense muscles of her arms began to relax as the exhaustion from the fight finally dawned over her body. She was no longer struggling to get out of his grasp, now focused on catching her breath as she glared at him weakly.

The feeling hit him again, one of familiarity from when she first presented herself in the throne room.

“The ground…” she muttered, “it’s cold.”

“Who asked you to strip yourself nearly bare out in the open?” he teased as his free hand skirted along the hem of her slip, and her face grew red.

He grinned devilishly as he slowly pushed the fabric up her legs, exposing her further to the cold. “You know I won’tmake things easy for you. I believe this arrangement is a farce.” The slip rose past her stomach as his fingers brushed her hip, sliding up her waist. “Did you think you could escape me by risking your safety?”

“Your knight was the one who lost the duel.”

“Yet you still tried,” he reminded her almost sternly. “You got in the way of my entertainment,” his fingertips trailed along her ribs as the slip bunched up higher along her body, “you put yourself in potential danger,” the underside of her breasts peeked out as his voice got breathier, “and then attacked me as well.”

He felt that Mierna was hardly breathing as his warm hand splayed against her ribs, his thumb tracing under her bosom. While he was tempted to completely shred the slip off her body to feast his eyes, he resisted.

“You deserve to be punished.”

“By letting me freeze?” she protested weakly, still attempting to be defiant.

He admired her spirit. “I could warm you up,” he said as his palm slid down to rub her thigh, “but only if you ask nicely.”

Despite the arousal in her eyes, she raised her brows at him dubiously.

“There are better ways,” he said softly as his voice fell an octave, coming out as a sensual growl. She inhaled sharply as his fingers trailed alongside her thigh. “I’m not a complete monster, you know?”

Aria began to soften as she asked more sensually, while she reached to squeeze his muscular chest. “I don’t see why you’d care now.”

She’d had training, and he could tell so from the strength in her small hands. For some reason…it aroused him more.

He grinned at her.

“If I didn’t know better, I’d think Arthur was your lover.”

“Like I said,” she glared at him, “I have none.”

He hummed as his other hand closed around the back of her thigh, sliding higher to her plump bottom. “I suppose he won’t mind what comes next, will he?”

“You really must stop tying my image to other men.”

Her annoyance entertained him, and he wondered how far he could push her before she snapped and crumbled.

“Make me, Princess.”
