"Be rich?" I chuckle.

He grins. "I was going to say invited. But yeah, rich too. Hell, the cheapest thing on the menu is three hundred dollars, and that's an appetizer."

"What the hell is it made of? Gold?" I exclaim and he laughs. I shake my head before saying, "I somehow forget sometimes that my sister's with a filthy rich guy now."

"She's richer than me."

I give him an exasperated face. "Unless we got some billionaire family members I don't know about who've left us all their money, I highly doubt it."

"She is, because I made sure she is. I wanted to make sure if anything ever happens to me, neither she nor Shawn ever has to worry about anything. My stocks, almost everything I had that could be transferred from my name to hers, now are."

I swallow. "You did that?"

He nods. "Which, I hope gives you faith in what I'm about to say."

I sit straighter. "I'm listening."

"I would like to propose to Sophie. I love her, more than I ever thought I could love someone. She's given me the greatest gift I could ever ask for in Shawn. She's not just a part of me. She is all of me, and I'd like to think I can persuade her, and if not, I'll beg her, to be my wife."

Tears in my eyes, I nod. "You're crazy if you think she's not saying yes."

He chuckles. "I sure as hell hope so. But I know that your opinion means everything to her. For her to know that as she steps into a new phase of life, that you approve, that she,we, have your blessing. So I brought you here, hoping that I have it.”

"You don't even need to ask. You love my sister with a love that just to watch it, warms my heart. I know that no one else could make her smile or laugh like you do. That no one else could make her light up just from walking into the same room, hell, the same house. You two belong together. You have my blessing in every way." He blows out a relieved breath and I laugh. "Did you think I was gonna say no?"

"As I prepare to ask Sophie to marry me, I'm realizing just how much a no scares me. I called Lexa too, so you guys can come with me to pick out a ring next week. And then she's gonna help me plan the proposal."

"What ideas have you come up with to propose?" The food arrives and my eyes light up. "Oh my God."

As he answers, I put my fork into a piece of fried broccoli, wondering when I ever told Law how much I love these.

"I was thinking of maybe taking everyone for a weekend to Scarlett Falls. There's a boat that goes along the river there. It stops by a waterfall, and I'm gonna do it when we're near it."

"That's perfect. You know how she loves water."

"Hopefully she loves it too."

"She will," I say before taking my first bite. "This is amazing." I compliment.

"Jackson makes this," Law says.

"I'm sure he makes it even better than this tastes."

He gives me a small smile. "I appreciate your loyalty to him."

He knows. I can tell he knows. It's in his eyes, that he wants to say more. So I look away from him, hoping he doesn't. But in looking to the side, I find there're only two other tables with people still eating at them now, one of them standing to leave as I watch.

"Is the restaurant about to close?" I ask.

"I'm not sure, actually."

"Well, based on how good this broccoli is, I hope we get to eat the main dish before we get kicked out."

He chuckles. "I'm sure we won't. But I do have to go to Cold Stone on my way home. Sophie wants, not just an ice cream cone, but an entire chocolate ice cream cake."

"That definitely sounds like my sister."

Another few minutes pass, and the waiter places another plate down.
