SCARLET

“Can you take the girls back to your place with you?” Declan asks Wolf.

I peer up at Killian with wide eyes. I don’t want to leave him. He doesn’t return my gaze, though. Instead he’s looking at Wolf as they wait for an answer.

“Of course. Are you sure you don’t want some of us to hang back and help you crush this motherfucker?” Wolf asks.

Killian’s eyes darken and his jaw clenches. “No. Get home to your girls. As soon as we’re done here, we’ll come for our girls. It shouldn’t take long.”

“I don’t want to leave you,” Cali whines as she tugs on Declan’s hand.

“Yeah. I don’t want to go,” I say.

“You have to. We don’t know where Maxwell is, and we don’t know if he’s our only traitor. I need you to go with Wolf so we can focus on this. As soon as we’re done, we’ll come get you,” Declan says firmly.

My bottom lip trembles. Killian cups my head and rests his forehead on mine. “I need you to be a good girl right now and obey me. You can trust these men. Go with them and hang out with their Little girls for a bit. You’ll have fun. Can you do that for me?”

I grab onto the front of his shirt and sigh. As badly as I want to stay with him, this isn’t one of those times to disobey or be a brat.

“Promise you’ll come get me as soon as you’re done?”

He presses a kiss to my lips. “Not only will I come get you, but as soon as the courthouse opens tomorrow, I’m going to marry you.”

Cali snorts. “That’s a terrible proposal.”

Declan swats her butt. “Quiet.”

I grin and look at my Daddy. “She’s right. That was kind of terrible. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to ask, not tell me.”

“Do I look like a man who asks?” he asks.

“Good point.”

Killian kisses me again. “I love you, baby. I’ll see you soon. Be good.”

“I love you too.”

“Oh my gosh.I can’t believe we finally get to meet you!”

“What’s it like being with a mafia boss?”

“Do they actually feed people to piranhas?”

Eight women surround us with big smiles on their faces as they ask all kinds of questions.

After the helicopter dropped us off, Hawk drove us to his house in a big SUV where all of their women were hanging out with his dad. One of the men must have given them a heads up we were coming because none of them missed a beat when we walked in.

I look at Kylie, the one who asked about the piranhas. “They don’t. Isn’t that weird? Like what kind of mafia guys don’t use flesh-eating fish to get rid of bodies? It’s just amateur, if you ask me.”

Cali nods. “We are going to buy some, though. You’ll have to come over to meet them.”

Lucy bounces in her seat, and I feel a little bad for being jealous of her when Killian brought up her name. It’s obvious she’s head over heels for Wolf. The two of them can barely keep their hands off each other. It’s actually pretty adorable.

“Declan and Killian helped save me,” Ellie says.
