He could have lost her.That thought made his chest tighten and his stomach turn.Her ex was going to pay dearly.It was only a matter of time.

Harper
As soon as Levi and King came back to the community room, she knew something was wrong.Both men looked pissed, and immediately, all the other men in the room went on alert.
“What’s going on?”Steele asked.
“I need to talk to Harper.King will fill you guys in,” Levi replied as he picked her up.
She clung to him and wrapped her legs around his waist.His body was rigid and his movements harsh as he carried her back to his suite.
“Daddy, what’s wrong?”
Fear started to wrap itself around her, and her breathing quickened.Whatever King had told him was bad.Very bad.
After he closed the door behind him, Levi took her to the couch and set her down, then knelt on the floor in front of her.
“Baby, I need to tell you something.It’s going to be scary, but you need to remember you’re safe with me.”
Her body started to tremble, and she couldn’t catch her breath.“What is it?”
“The fire was arson,” he said quietly.
For some reason, she didn’t think that was the worst of what he had to tell her.
“It appears someone was in your apartment before the fire.The smoke detectors had been removed, and the lock on your door had been messed with.”
A sob caught in her throat.“But…but, I was there.I was in my apartment.How?I would have heard someone, right?How could this happen?”
“I need to know where he lives.”
Her eyes widened.“Why?What are you going to do?”
The rage she saw burning in his dark eyes didn’t scare her.It made her feel safer than she’d ever felt before, but the last thing she wanted was for him to get hurt.Or do something to get arrested.
“I need the address, Harper,” he said sternly.
She reached out and pressed her palms against his chest.“Daddy?—”
“Harper, this isn’t negotiable.I’ll let you argue with me on a lot of things, but when it comes to your safety, I have no give.As your Daddy, it’s my job to protect you, and I will do it by whatever means necessary.”
Emotions whirled in her chest.Arousal.Fear.Anger.Awe.
Levi hardly knew her, yet he was willing to do whatever it took to protect her.He was willing to fight the demon who’d made her life hell for so long.
“Okay.I’ll give you his address,” she whispered.
His shoulders relaxed as he nodded.“That’s my good girl.”
She sighed at his praise.It was still so foreign.Feeling a sliver of boldness, she reached up and ran her fingers over his rough chin.He kept his eyes locked on hers, but he was breathing heavily.Like he was fighting to keep control.It was an empowering feeling.
“Harper.”
“Daddy,” she whispered.
