I dress in jeans and a long sleeve blouse. It feels odd being in something other than a dress, but even odder than I’ve picked out my own clothes. What the hell is wrong with me? I put boots and my coat on and meet Kieran in the foyer.
The physician Kieran takes me to is in New Jersey, which is odd. I didn’t think he held any sway over this area, but maybe he does. Or maybe it’s like he said—he doesn’t want people to speculate. When we arrive, a woman stands and greets Kieran.
“Mr. Van der Zee. Always a pleasure.”
“Is Grim in his office? I’d like to say hello before the exam.”
The woman turns a dark shade of red. “Yes, sir. He’s waiting for you.”
I’m taken aback by her use of the word ‘sir’. Is this yet another person he had a contract with? Jealousy churns at my stomach and I cross my arms over my chest, as if that will help lessen the feeling.
Kieran says to me, “I’ll be out here when you’re finished.”
I nod and he disappears through a door.
The woman clears her throat. “Right this way, ma’am.”
I follow her in the opposite direction, down a hallway to an exam room.
Once inside, she turns to me. “Oh my god! I’m so jealous!”
“Pardon?”
“I loved my time as one of Kieran’s girls. Isn’t the club just wonderful? Have you been to the VIP suites yet? My favorite was the voyeur room. And Kieran is the best boss ever, isn’t he?”
My cheeks are warm. I don’t want her to know I haven’t been, but I can’t speak about the club without potentially putting my foot in my mouth. Is there even a voyeur room? I wouldn’t know. It does make me happy knowing she only worked at the club and wasn’t at the house. I wonder how many people he’s had at the house? That might be a slippery slope, really, because I probably don’t want to know.
The woman stares at me and I realize she’s waiting for an answer.
“He really is the best.”
That much I can say with certainty.
She smiles. “Well, I’ll let you change. Everything off. There’s a drape on the exam table that you can cover yourself with. Dr. Grimsby and his nurse will be in here shortly.”
“Grimsby? Is that who Kieran went to see?”
“They go way back.” Her voice lowers. “Dr. G supplies the drugs used at the club.”
I smile, hoping I don’t look shocked as hell.
“Okay, I’ll leave you to it.” She gives me a small wave, closing the door behind her.
I turn my attention to the drape. Guess it’s now or never. At least I won’t have to worry about getting pregnant after this.

Kieran
Grim stands when I enter his office, a grin on his face. I’ve known him for years after meeting him through my former mentor, Sabrina. He wouldn’t be my first pick as someone to use as a supplier since he is sloppy with details, but he hasn’t let me down yet, so I guess I can’t complain.
He says, “I wondered when I’d see you.”
We clap each other on the back before taking our seats.
“I have a new girl that needs to be seen.”
“Does she want the shot or pills?”
