I finish bathing and dress, braiding my hair. There’s a loud sound from the main room.

I call out, “Are you all okay in there?”

Flynn laughs. “Freja was just showing me her dancing skills.”

I snort, opening the door. “God help us all.”

It takes a moment for me to realize what I’m seeing. Freja is lying face down on our bed, blood trickling from her temple. I turn, looking for Flynn as something smashes against my head. I have one last thought before everything goes black. I’ve made a terrible mistake.

Odin

I’ve been on edge since I let Anna walk out of my house. Out of my life, really. Reaching for my tumbler, I empty the contents and pour another. I took the coward’s way out. I should have told her the truth. Instead, I made her think that I didn’t want her. That I didn’t care if she took the fall for us when it was my fault we were caught. I knew Elsa was coming. Heimdall let me know before I took Anna into the living room. I could have protected Anna, but I didn’t. Cursing, I throw the tumbler against the wall, watching it shatter into a million pieces. Anna didn’t deserve that. She didn’t deserve any of this.

I’m deep in thought when there’s a knock on my door. Heimdall enters and I glare at him.

“What are you doing here?”

“Came to check on you. You haven’t been answering my calls.”

“There’s a reason for that.”

He sits across from me. “Have you heard from her?”

“No.”

He’s silent and then says, “You gave her phone back to her, right?”

“What does that have to do with anything?”

“You can tap into her phone and see what she’s doing.”

“And what good will it do?”

He shrugs. “Just an idea.”

“Here’s an idea. The next time I tell you a plan and you act without my permission; I will have no qualms cutting you from neck to navel and watching your innards fall out.”

He pales. “Odin—”

“Don’t speak. You’ve already done enough.”

Heimdall stands. “I’m sorry for angering you, brother, but I stand by what I did. We have to protect the entire family. You know this.” He pauses. “Check her phone if you’re worried about her.”

He leaves and I glare after him. When he’s gone, I pull out my phone, opening the tracking app. What in the fuck.

“Heimdall,” I yell. “Get your ass back in here!”

He’s there a moment later. “What is it?”

I show him the screen. “This can’t be right.”

Because it says Anna is in Oklahoma City.

He takes the phone, typing. If anyone can figure out what’s going on, it’s my tech-savvy brother. His expression becomes grimmer.

“It’s pinging from a tower in Oklahoma City. So, she’s there or someone has her phone.”
