“No, not really.”

He pulls his hand from between my legs and swats me across the ass.

“Don’t make me ask again.”

I sigh, glad I can’t see him.

“I left because you’re married to mymother. This is wrong and we’re playing with fire!”

His hand goes back between my legs, and I bite back a moan. I’m so freaking close.

He says, “Yes, I’m married, but it’s a business arrangement. I don’t feel the same way about her as I do for you.”

My damn heart misses a beat.

“People like us answer to no one, baby girl. So, no, this isn’t wrong. This is something special between you and me. Fuck everyone else.”

My eyes water. “Will you still stand by me if we’re caught?”

“We’re not going to get caught.”

He says it with the surety that only a man can have. I want to believe him. I do. But I’ve seen what happens to women in scenarios like this. Odin will be left unscathed while I take the fall.

He shifts, brushing his lips against my shoulder. “Enough worries, baby girl. Let Daddy make you feel good.”

I should stop this now before we take this any further. I don’t. Instead, I moan as he pushes inside of me, stretching me in only the way that he can.

“Fuck,” he breathes out. “Your pussy is welcoming me home, baby girl.”

“It missed you, Daddy.”

I missed him…

I won’t say the words, though. Maybe if I can convince myself that this is just sex, then I won’t get hurt when this fling comes to an end. He rocks into me, stealing my breath. And itwillcome to an end. I know because nothing good ever lasts for me. Someone always makes sure of that.

Odin and I stay in the hotel until noon the next day. By the time we dress and leave, I feel like a baby giraffe trying to walk for the first time. My damn legs are still shaking as we walk outside to the car. It’s snowing, and the sky is dark, heavy with clouds. I slide into the car first and Odin follows, putting his hand on my thigh as he looks over his phone.

This is feeling too comfortable. Even though he swears no one is going to find out about us, I can’t shake the feeling that he’s wrong. Sighing, I look out the window as we head back to the penthouse. I’m not sure if I’m ready to be back there.

Odin says, “I’m going to drop you off at the front of the building when we arrive.”

“Afraid to be seen with me,” I say in a teasing voice, though I’m totally serious.

“Not at all, baby girl. I have to take care of something. One of my suppliers has gone rogue and needs to be reminded who is in charge.”

Wow. I never expected him to talk about Mafia business with me.

“How has he gone rogue?”

“He’s skimming product, thinking I haven’t noticed.”

Product meaning drugs, then.

I say, “He definitely needs to be handled. It’s bad business to sample the merchandise.”
