And it would keep Blake out, who she was so angry at that all she wanted to do was cry.

She had found two apartments she liked and one had two bedrooms. Soon Wyatt was going to be old enough that he would need his own room.

It had been three days and she had not heard from Blake. Maybe it was the best. If he couldn’t say he loved her, then she was not going to be a part of his life.

With a sigh, she pulled into the apartment complex parking lot and sighed. The reporters were back. For the last two days, they had disappeared, but now they were back and there seemed to be even more. By moving somewhere with a gated community this would no longer be a problem.

She parked the car, took a deep breath, and prepared to work her way through the onslaught.

Opening the vehicle’s back door, she unhooked Wyatt from his seat and lifted him to her chest.

He blew a raspberry at a man who was holding a camera.

“Miss Howard,” a woman with a microphone called.

She ignored her. As she walked across the parking lot, it was then that she saw him. He was standing in front of the stairs that led to her apartment.

Madison stepped out in front of her. “May I hold Wyatt while you and Blake talk?”

She frowned. He was holding at least five bouquets of roses and there were balloons tied to the stairwell railing.

What was going on?

“I promise I will be right over here,” she said, pointing to the side where the rest of Blake’s brothers stood.

“All right,” she said, handing her Wyatt. “What’s going on?”

She smiled and shook her head and then stepped back.

Blake stepped up in front of her. “Cristina, I’m not good with relationships. Once again, I’ve proven that’s true.”

She heard his brothers chuckle. And she had to agree with him, but what was he doing here? There were reporters recording everything.

“Do you realize why I ran that first morning?”

“No,” she said feeling the hurt of waking up when he was gone.

“I ran because you scared the hell out of me. With you that night, I had experienced emotions I had never felt with anyone. I’d just gotten out of a bad relationship and suddenly here I was with a woman who grabbed my heart, squeezed it, and latched onto my fragile organ.”

She smiled.

“I felt the same way,” she said softly.

A smile crossed his face. “Then eighteen months later, I get a letter saying I have a child someone is hiding from me. So I went back to my exes to find out who.”

She smiled. “True.”

“When I gave you that prenup, I hadn’t read it. My family told me you would have been crazy to have signed that document. Madison was honest with me and helped me to understand how I did everything wrong. Including not telling you how you make me feel. I assumed that you knew my feelings.”

“No,” Cristina said. “How would I?”

He nodded. “I’ve loved you since the night we created Wyatt. I loved you then and was so afraid of my feelings that I ran. And now, you’ve made me feel them again. I love you, Cristina. And that scared me. But it doesn’t any longer. I can’t live without you by my side for the rest of my life.”

He dropped to one knee and the crowd around him murmured excitedly. “Will you please marry me and be my wife? I love you with all my heart and soul. Let there be no doubt in your mind about my feelings for you. You are the only woman I love. You are the one I want to spend forever with.”

Cristina gave a sob as she saw him down on one knee, spilling his heart in front of all these reporters who would no doubt air the proposal for the whole country to see.

“Oh, Blake, that’s all I needed. I didn’t need anything but your love. Yes, I’ll marry you. I love you and can’t wait to be your wife.”
