“No. I’m really tired. I’m just going to stay home and maybe watch a movie.”
“Okay.” I kissed her lips. “I won’t be down there too long.”
Taking a seat next to Conner, I twisted the cap off my beer bottle.
“Hey, sweetheart.” I smiled at Isabella, and she laughed.
“Just wait, Carter. Just wait. Your daughter is going to be your everything. Isn’t that right, my angel?”
“We went and picked out all the furniture for the nursery today.” I smiled as I tipped the bottle to my lips. “Baby Brooklyn is going to love it.”
“You finally agreed on a name?” Sam asked.
“No, but I haven’t thrown that name at Zoey yet. I think she’ll like it.”
“Give it up, bro.” Gabriel chuckled. “This is one battle you’re not winning.”
“Where’s Simon?” Grayson asked.
“He said he’s staying in tonight with Grace, Milo, and Nora.”
“And Christian and Charleigh?” I asked.
“They’re both stuck at the hospital,” Grayson said.
“How about we play some guitar?” Sebastian said as he set his guitar on his lap and started strumming Sweet Home Alabama.
After I finished my second beer, I went home, locked up, and went upstairs, where Zoey was lying in bed watching a movie.
“What are—oh, the Hunger Games again?” I glanced at the TV.
“Yes. Hurry up and get in bed so we can finish it together.” She patted my side of the bed with a smile.
I stripped out of my clothes, brushed my teeth, and climbed into bed, holding my arm out to Zoey. She snuggled against me and laid her head on my chest.
“Isabella was being so cute,” I said.
“Shh,” she said.
“You’ve seen this a bazillion times, babe.”
“Shh. I love you.”
I rolled my eyes as I kissed the top of her head. When the movie was over, I grabbed the remote and turned off the TV.
“Night, babe. Night, my sweet little Brooklyn.” I placed my hand on Zoey’s belly.
“Night. We’re not naming our daughter Brooklyn.”
I sighed and fell asleep.
One Month Later

I was in the middle of decorating a cake when Riley entered the kitchen.
“Zoey, there’s a man here to see you.”
