“Yep.” I popped my lips. “I’m really sorry, Shaun.”

“Not as sorry as those two will be once I get done with them.”

“Listen.” I stood from my seat and walked over to him. “You have to approach this with caution. I’ve seen these thieves flee once they get wind, and they’re never found.”

“How did you find all this information in one day?” Shaun asked.

“I knew what to look for since I discovered I was being screwed in the first place by the change in price of the square footage for that building.” I smirked. “Besides, I’ve seen this before. So, it wasn’t that hard.”

Shaun pulled me into an embrace. “Thank you, Zoey. I will never be able to thank you enough for this.”

“You’re welcome, Shaun. I’m just sorry that it happened to you. Unfortunately, with multi-billion-dollar corporations, this happens all the time. People get greedy, and when they’re given a position of power, they abuse it. You have all the original listings, right?”

“Yes,” he said.

“I suspect the revised ones are hidden somewhere in Ken’s office if he’s that stupid. If he’s not, he has them at his home.”

“If you two will excuse me, I’m going to call Roman at the FBI and set up a meeting with him.” He pulled his phone from his pocket and walked away.

CHAPTER 14

“You’re really good.” I smiled.

“Thanks. Shaun is such a nice guy, and he doesn’t deserve this,” she said.

The sliding door opened, and Sam and Stefan walked in.

“Where’s Shaun?” Stefan asked.

“He’s calling Roman,” I replied.

“It’s that bad?” Sam asked.

“It’s that bad,” Zoey spoke.

“People suck, and he’s going to need us and a lot of booze. I brought the design for the bakery.” Sam said as he rolled it open across the table.

I walked away and into Shaun’s office, where he was sitting behind his desk.

“Well?” I asked as I stood in the doorway.

“Roman said he’ll drop by tomorrow, and we can discuss it in person. Do you know how badly I want to hurt Ken and Raquel?”

“Yeah, Shaun. I do. Come on. Let’s light a bonfire, get the guys together, play music, have a few beers, and just forget about everything for tonight.”

“Good idea, cousin.” He smiled.

We walked out of his office and back over to the table where Zoey, Sam, and Stefan were talking.

“So, what’s the verdict?” I asked as I stared at Zoey.

“I love it, I’m happy, and I’m opening a bakery.” She grinned. “Are we good, Shaun? Is there anything else you need me to do?”

“Just one more thing,” he said. “An FBI agent is coming to the house tomorrow. Do you think you can be here so you can fill him in on what you found out?”

“Of course. Just text me with a time.”
