“What the fuck? And she had the nerve to say something to me about my canned pineapple,” I mumbled.

“What are you doing?” I heard her voice from behind.

“I was thirsty and wanted a bottle of water, but you don’t have any. Your ice maker is jammed, and I was going to fix it until I saw this.” I cocked my head as I stared at her.

“I forgot to pick up bottled water at the store. And what about my Ben & Jerry’s?” Her brow arched.

“You have six pints in here. Isn’t that a little excessive?”

“Really, Mr. Canned Pineapple Hoarder? For your information, Ben & Jerry get me through my stressful times.”

“How so?”

“They comfort me. So, I always make sure I’m stocked. I’m unsure what would happen if I was unbelievably stressed one day, and they weren’t there.”

I stood there with furrowed brows. “You went on a tangent about my canned pineapple, yet you’re hoarding Ben & Jerry’s in your freezer. That’s not weird to you?”

“Nope. They’re therapeutic for me.” She walked over and shut the freezer.

“You’re weird,” I said.

“Not as weird as your pineapple fetish.” She grinned.

“You’re unbelievable, Zoey!” I loudly voiced as she walked away.

“I know, Mr. Kind. That’s one of the perks of hanging out with me.”

I stood there, shaking my head with a smile, as I opened up the freezer and unjammed her ice maker.

While waiting for her, I saw a sheet of paper on her table. Picking it up, I noticed it was a business plan.

“I thought you didn’t make a business plan yet,” I said as I walked into the bathroom with the sheet where she was doing her hair.”

“It’s a semi-business plan, just a rough draft. It’s not the final one. And why are you going through my things?” She turned around and pointed her hot curling iron at me. I took a step back.

“I wasn’t. It was lying on the table, out in the open, for anyone to see. Do you mind?” I pointed to her iron.

“Oh, sorry. I’ll be ready in five minutes,” she said.

I took a seat on the edge of the bed. Something had been bothering me. It was something she said back at my house when she went on her little rant about having a million things to do. I’d ask her about it later.

“I’m ready,” she said as she stepped out of the bathroom.

After the meeting with Shaun and Roman, we climbed into my car, and I drove to the marina.

“Why are we here?” she asked.

“You’ll see.” I smiled as we climbed out of the car.

I took hold of her hand, and she glanced at me.

“What? I don’t want you to slip and fall on the dock.”

We walked down the dock until we reached my newest purchase.

“Wow. Beautiful.” She smiled.

“Come on.” I helped her up.
