“Yeah. I promised Shaun that I wouldn’t tell the girls that Carter was moving here, but I did anyway. It was my obligation as a sister. Don’t worry. What we tell each other stays between us. No one outside of our girl circle will ever know. You can trust us.”

“Besides, the guys tell each other everything, too. Nothing is sacred in this family,” Grace said.

“I don’t know.” I chewed my bottom lip.

“We like you, Zoey, and you’re in our circle now. We’re your sisters for life, regardless of whether you’re dating Carter or not,” Alex said.

“I’m not dating Carter,” I said.

“Doesn’t matter. We’ve already adopted you into our family.” Charleigh smiled.

“You promise not to tell?”

“We promise. Let’s all pinky swear, ladies,” Jenni said as we hooked our pinkies around each other.

“Carter bought a yacht for himself, Grayson, and Gabriel, and he’s giving it to them as a birthday gift next week at the party.”

“Seriously?” Piper asked.

“Oh, my God. How exciting!” Ava grinned.

“That’s awesome!” Jenni said. “He’s such a great guy. The boys will be thrilled.”

Piper’s phone rang, and she stepped out of the kitchen to answer it. When she walked back in, she had a look of despair across her face.

“What’s wrong?” Ava asked.

“That was Gwen. She can’t do our wedding cake anymore because her mother passed away, and she’s moving to Connecticut.” Tears filled her eyes. “What am I going to do?”

“Um.” I raised my hand. “I can make your wedding cake. I have several wedding cake books I can show you.”

“You do wedding cakes?” Piper asked.

“Yeah. It’s what I’m most well-known for back in Sacramento. I won first place in a wedding cake competition last year.”

“Oh, my God. You’re a lifesaver.” Piper hugged me. “Are you sure you don’t mind?”

“Not at all.” I smiled.

“Would you be interested in making Grayson and Gabriel’s birthday cake?” Ava asked.

“I’d love to. I’ll make one big one, and then I’ll make different flavored cupcakes so you can try out different flavors for your wedding cake, Piper.”

“Again, I love you.” She hugged me tight.

“What’s going on in here?” Conner asked as he walked in and over to the refrigerator.

“Gwen’s moving to Connecticut and can’t do Piper’s and Gabriel’s wedding cake,” Charlotte said.

“What? Why the fuck is my Gwen moving to Connecticut? Piper, you didn’t try to stop her?”

“Yeah, right, Conner. Her mother passed away.” Her brows furrowed.

“Oh, that’s sad. What the fuck? Now, what are we going to do?”

“Zoey has agreed to make the cake for Gabriel and me, and she’s making the cake for Grayson and Gabriel’s birthday.”

“But we haven’t tried her cakes yet.”
