“Yes.”

“Help me out here, Largo, because for the life of me, I can’t think of one thing more important than trying to save you from the torture you are about to endure. If I could take your place, I would.”

She sighed. “Caleb.”

“Why did you do it? Why did you leave me?”

“I didn’t have a choice, Caleb.”

“You always had a choice. You just chose not to trust me.”

“It’s more complicated than that.”

“Is it?” I snarled. “Because from where I’m sitting, it’s rather simple. You didn’t believe that I could protect you from whatever made you run. Instead of coming to me, the man who vowed to protect you, you ran away. You left me holding my dick. You made me look weak. Like some imbecile who lets his wife pull him around by his dick.”

“You know that’s not how I feel.”

“That’s just it, Largo. I know nothing. Hell, is Largo even your real name?”

Fury knocked on my office door before walking in, halting our conversation. “Sorry to interrupt, but Montana wants this shit settled tonight.”

Nodding, I got to my feet, looking at my wife.

“Tell me, Largo. Was it worth it?”

“I’d do it again if it meant you and Sophia are safe.”

“Well, it’s a damn good thing you’ll never get the chance again, because, sweetheart, I’m gonna chain your ass to me in every way possible.”

Chapter Seven

Largo

I thought it was funny. No matter how many times I mentally prepared myself for this moment, my nerves still got the better of me. What worried me the most was would Caleb follow through and remarry me? Because if he didn’t, I had no other choice. Montana was right. There was no fucking way I’d ever become a club whore. Not when I considered every fucking brother a damn brother. Nope. Never gonna happen. If Caleb refused to uphold his end of the bargain, I was going to ask Montana to remove my brand and then walk out the front doors with my head held high. Oh, I knew, technically Montana could still order my death, but I was betting on the fact he liked me a little too much to do that.

Plus, his mother would kill him herself.

Virginia always had a soft spot for me.

Still, soft spot or not, nothing was going to get me out of what was about to happen next, unless Caleb stepped up and did the right thing. Part of me trusted, wanted to believe, that his love for me would prevail. That he would go against the club and honor his vow to me. But too much time had gone by, and now, I wasn’t so sure. I knew technically his hands were tied. He was the vice president of the Soulless Sinners Motorcycle Club and with that came a lot of responsibility. Responsibilities he took seriously. Caleb was a brother in the club before we married. He was very clear from the beginning where his loyalties lay and Iaccepted him because I loved the man. I wanted him in any way I could get him.

For a short time, we had it all and our love grew.

Over the years, Caleb showered me with a love I never knew existed, and when our daughter was born, his love grew tenfold. The man was my rock, my best friend, the one person I trusted above all others, and then I went and threw it all away because I allowed someone to infiltrate us.

That was my crime.

My biggest mistake.

Not leaving him but allowing a brother to threaten everything I loved.

Silently following Caleb downstairs into the mailroom, I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the St. Andrew’s Cross. Always an intimidating piece of equipment. Used for many things, like sexual gratification, or in my case, punishment. I wondered how many deserving souls found themselves bound to this cross while the club dished out retribution.

Taking a closer look at the room, I saw the board members lining the walls, as I took my first step towards my redemption. However, seeing Malice glare at me as he sat in a wooden chair, I quickly asked the sedate brother, “Where is Sophia?”

“Safe,” he replied before standing and walking over to his brothers.

“You still want to remarry her, brother?” Montana asked.
